A German soccer game was suspended Sunday after a fan threw a beer in the face of a referee during halftime.
Zwickau was hosting Rot-Weiss Essen in a third-tier match in which it faced relegation, and the two teams were tied 1-1 after the first half of play. Before the first half expired, referee Nicholas Winter gave Zwickau defender Nils Butzen a red card while also awarding Essen a free kick off a hand ball. In the immortal words of Brad Pitt as Billy Beane: How can you not be romantic about baseball?
It’s hard to imagine not feeling something while watching this clip of 33-year-old Pirates minor league shortstop Drew Maggi being informed that the day had finally arrived: he’s going to The Show.
Maggi had the news delivered to him by Altoona Curve manager Callix Crabbe in the clubhouse in front of the entire team.

Dion Dawkins is not only one of the best linemen in the NFL, he’s nice at cornhole. The 28-year-old doesn’t get to tailgate his own games, but would have no issue fitting in with Bills Mafia in the parking lot!
The American Cornhole League held its SuperHole IV event on Friday night in Topeka, Kansas. Dawkins and a group of Buffalo players partnered with professionals for the pro-am tournament, but none were as dominant as their offensive tackle.

His teammates could be seen distraught and emotional, appearing to already know it was another serious injury for the two-time All-Star.

Yes, I am the same guy who recently wrote that I am tired of “prospect promotion” videos. But that’s for players who are blue-chippers and inevitable big leaguers. However, I’m all-in on videos of guys finally getting the call after years in the minors. That’s what happened Sunday for 33-year-old Pittsburgh Pirates “prospect” Drew Maggi.
The Arizona Diamondbacks originally drafted Maggi in 2008. But, he chose to go to college. The Pirates later selected him in 2010.
He spent five seasons in the Pittsburgh organization before bouncing around for several seasons.

It was a low blow, but it looks like the NBA is going to let it slide.
The league won’t issue further punishment to Dillon Brooks after he was ejected from Saturday’s game for hitting LeBron James in the groin area.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Sunday, “The NBA has reviewed Dillon Brooks’ flagrant 2 foul on LeBron James and there will be no additional penalty, sources tell ESPN. League reviews all flagrant fouls.”
