Free agent EDGE Al-Quadin Muhammad signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, ending a two-season run with the Lions. Muhammad enjoyed a career year this past season, totaling 25 tackles, 20 quarterback hits, 11 sacks and nine tackles for loss. Muhammad played in 26 games and started a pair during his two seasons with the Lions.
Per Fox’s Greg Auman, it’s a one-year deal worth a maximum value of $6 million. Muhammad will earn a base salary of $4 million and can earn an additional $2 million with incentives.

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Sam Reinhart scored 2:20 into overtime to lift the Florida Panthers over the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1 on Thursday night.
Sam Bennett also scored for the Panthers. His power-play wrist shot 1:28 into the third period sent the game to overtime. Sergei Bobrovsky made 30 saves in the win for the Panthers.
Adam Fantilli scored for the Blue Jackets, and Elvis Merzlikins had 19 saves.
The Blue Jackets dominated the first two periods, outshooting the Panthers 24-10. Florida came back strong in the third period and dominated in overtime.

Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray has a new NFL home.
The former Oklahoma quarterback, who the award as the best player in college football in 2018, signed with the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday. Minnesota picked up Murray for the league minimum despite starting every game’s in which he’s played over the course of his seven NFL seasons. That’s because the Arizona Cardinals released him Wednesday but still owe him $36.8 million thanks to a deal he signed back in 2022.

Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles characterized sending wide receiver DJ Moore and a fifth-round pick to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a second-year selection in this year’s draft as one of “those business decisions.”
“DJ’s one of my favorite players, will always be one of my favorite players. I knew that that was going to be tough for our organization,” Poles told reporters on Thursday.
It was also tough for his son, Mason.
“I’ve mentioned this before — my son is a passionate fan of the Chicago Bears.

Kenneth Walker isn’t the only running back the Chiefs are signing.
They agreed to terms with running back Emari Demercado on a one-year deal on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports.
The Chiefs needed help at the position with Isiah Pacheco leaving in free agency and Kareem Hunt still a free agent. Brashard Smith and ShunDerrick Powell are the other running backs on the roster.
Demercado, 27, totaled 176 touches for 1,143 yards and four touchdowns in his three seasons with the Cardinals.

Utah Utes new head coach, Morgan Scalley, certainly falls in the latter category.
According to the University of Utah, Scalley is gifting a total of $2 million back to the football program in order to help support their growth and development in the coming years.

The Minnesota Vikings made a huge free agency splash by signing Kyler Murray, and it appears the NFL quarterback has a history with the team.
Minnesota has gone through an up-and-down spell with quarterbacks in recent seasons. However, Kevin o’Connell and Co. hope that Murray’s career turns around after his struggles with the Arizona Cardinals.
