The matchup between the two best teams in Group F lived up to the hype, with the two teams playing to an entertaining 2-2 draw after a busy second half.
The two teams stayed locked at 0-0 throughout the first half, as Japan’s notoriously impenetrable defense held the Netherlands out of the attacking third completely. The Dutch, who held most of the possession in the half, were able to get a few good chances, but some excellent saves from Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki kept the game level heading into halftime.
In the 51st minute, though, the Oranje finally broke through.

Denny Hamlin’s résumé is one of the most impressive in NASCAR history.
The Joe Gibbs Racing driver has won more than 60 Cup Series races, captured three Daytona 500 victories, helped launch 23XI Racing, and spent nearly two decades competing at the highest level of stock car racing.
Yet for all the trophies, headlines, and milestones, the people closest to Hamlin have remained largely the same throughout the journey.

Starter or benched? Spain boss De la Fuente confirms Lamine Yamal’s status for Cabo Verde

Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente has provided an update on the status of star man Lamine Yamal for the country’s World Cup opener.

La Roja are primed to kick their campaign at world football’s grandest international tournament into gear on Monday, in a meeting with minnows Cabo Verde.

The aforementioned Lamine had long been considered a doubt for the fixture, owing to a late-season injury suffered with Barcelona.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Jackson Chourio and Blake Perkins homered, Kyle Harrison pitched three-hit ball for six innings and the Milwaukee Brewers tagged Philadelphia Phillies ace Cristopher Sánchez for all their runs Sunday in a 4-0 victory.
Chourio led off the first with a 412-foot homer to center. It was his fifth homer in five games, ninth of the season and his MLB-leading seventh in June.
Perkins, who entered the game hitting .113, hit a two-out, three-run homer — his first of the season — in the fourth inning to extend Milwaukee’s lead to 4-0.

Let’s make one thing clear. Even though he just lost his first career NBA Finals appearance, Victor Wembanyama’s greatness remains inevitable. How many 22-year-old franchise players come three wins short of the Larry O’Brien Trophy? The answer is not many. This season and subsequent San Antonio Spurs playoff run will likely be the worst Wembanyama will be as a player for a long time. He will be back. Full stop.
But Wembanyama’s talent and immense capacity for improvement are not what’s in question for me regarding his NBA future.

A new advanced efficiency metric highlights a challenging environment for the San Francisco 49ers’ passing game during the 2025 regular season. According to Next Gen Stats data compiled by @NutshellSportz, San Francisco’s skill players finished well below league average in generating separation.
The metric measures team separation adjusted for average route depth (ADOT), isolating a team’s ability to get open relative to where targets are expected to land. The 49ers finished the year at -0.17 yards below expectation, placing them in the bottom third of the NFL.

The New York Jets are entering the 2026 NFL season with a new-look defense and new-look offense after plenty of offseason moves.
Looking across the entire offense, the only position group that’s the same as last season is the running back room. Breece Hall signed a big extension, Brealon Allen, and Isaiah Davis are back as backups, too.
