After an uncharacteristically busy early free agency period, things have begun to slow down for the New Orleans Saints. A couple of big signings are already down. The major focus now is on the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. Some activity will probably pick up once that goes by and veterans begin to sign again, with teams looking to plug their remaining holes and the compensatory picks deadline having passed. That’ll free up some teams that are protecting their draft picks in 2027, as we’ve seen the Saints do in past years with Tyrann Mathieu and Jameis Winston.

The new league year means old faces in new places, where the money’s big and the joy drowns the doubt away.
I hope you read that to the tune of “Friends In Low Places.”
Every team has made some sort of move over the last week since the new league year began, some much more than others.

The Big Ten are the big winners of the first weekend of the 2026 men’s NCAA tournament.
Going 6-1 in the second round, the league has a real chance to place multiple teams in the Final Four with a strong showing in the second weekend.

Sticking around on a team a long time doesn’t inherently mean a player is good. Maybe they’re just good enough to fill a role. Maybe the team can’t find someone it likes better, even if the player himself isn’t great. Maybe he has incriminating photos of the coach. Who knows, there are lots of things that go into NFL roster decisions.
But hey, being on a team is better than … you know, not.
Players who hang around on an NFL roster for a while either become fan favorites or the guys fans can’t wait to be done with.

During March Madness, legends are made when unlikely stars step up in crucial situations. That happened for Camden Heide on Saturday with the Longhorns clinging to a one-point lead over No. 3 Gonzaga with less than 20 seconds left. The Minnesota native was called upon to put the game out of reach, and he delivered with a three-pointer that will forever hold a special place in Longhorns history.
Heading into the final minute, Heide had been held scoreless as Texas traded shots with Gonzaga all night. Then Heide entered, the mix draining a three-pointer to make it a 72-68 game.

It’s kind of a punchline in New York with Giants fans: The last time the franchise took a running back with a first-round pick, it was Saquon Barkley, who was good but who then went to the Philadelphia Eagles and won a Super Bowl.
So could the Giants use their fifth-overall pick on… Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love? In our latest NFL mock draft from Christian D’Andrea, he has Love dropping all the way to No. 18 to the Minnesota Vikings. But in Todd McShay’s latest mock, he’s got the Giants taking Love.

Anthony Gordon has expressed his frustrations at Newcastle’s Tyne-Wear derby defeat, suggesting Sunderland are “not a very good team” in comparison to the Magpies.
Eddie Howe’s men suffered a 2-1 loss to their arch-rivals at St James’ Park on Sunday, marking a second defeat to Sunderland this season.
The home defeat followed Newcastle’s Champions League exit after a 7-2 loss to Barcelona last Wednesday.

According to a report from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich has inked David Santos Daiber to his first professional contract:

🚨✍️ David Santos #Daiber have now signed his first professional contract with FC Bayern. It is a long-term deal.

OK. We gotcha, Tyler Reddick. We get it. We hear you, loud and clear. What sacrifice do NASCAR fans have to make to get out of this hell? I’ll do anything. Just make it STOP.
I don’t even dislike Tyler Reddick! I like that little dude. He’s fine. I like Michael Jordan. Republicans buy sneakers, too. He’s good with me.
But my God. Enough already. FOUR of the first SIX races? He’s gonna catch Richard Petty by the time they come back to Daytona at this rate.

Formula 1 returns to action for this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix.
And for fans you best enjoy this race, as the next time you will see the grid in action will be the Miami Grand Prix at the start of May.
