KINGSTON — The Ada High School baseball team didn’t get off to the greatest start against Davis during their first-round matchup on a chill Thursday evening at the Kingston Tournament.
However, the Cougars put together a pretty strong finish and raced past the Wolves 12-4.
Coach Shane Coker’s bunch improved to 17-1 on the year, while Davis dropped to 6-6. Ada was scheduled to face Caddo — ranked No. 6 in Class A-1 — Friday night in the semifinals. The third-place game in Kingston is scheduled for 1 p.m. today with the title game set for 3 p.m.

The Ada High School boys golf team didn’t put its best putter forward during a damp, windy outing Thursday at the Southern Oklahoma Invitational.
The Cougars finished 12th — in the middle of the pack — with a score of 361. Ada was just one stroke behind Lawton MacArthur who was 11th at 360.
The tournament was hosted by the Duncan Golf and Tennis Club.
Plainview won the team title with a score of 308 and Marlow was runner-up at 314. Velma-Alma followed at 315 followed by host Duncan and Elgin, who tied with identical 328 scores.

Every fella watching Formula 1 qualifying ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix was probably squirming in their seat a little (I know I was) watching Racing Bulls rookie driver Isack Hadjar battle through what he was battling through on Saturday.
Hadjar is getting his F1 career started with the Red Bull sister team and so far it has been a bit of a mixed bag for him. He infamously spun and crashed out of the race on the formation lap in Australia, but ran fairly well in China.

Donyell Malen scored what was ultimately the deciding goal at VIlla Park – PA/Jacob King
Aston Villa prepared for a glamorous midweek Champions League trip to Paris with a victory that keeps alive their hopes of qualifying for next season’s competition via the Premier League although Nuno Espírito Santo must wonder how.
His side, without a regular striker due to injuries, dominated second half proceedings and pulled a goal back through Jota Silva, cancelling out Villa’s two early efforts, but could not convert another of the host of chances that came their way.

BOSTON (AP) — Kristian Campbell had just finished his news conference Saturday afternoon when he was getting ready to join a group photo with his parents and Boston Red Sox ownership.
He was standing between his mom and dad when his mother, Tonya, reached forward and adjusted the 22-year-old rookie’s sport jacket before the group looked at the photographer.
His bigger life-altering moment came earlier this week.
On Wednesday, he agreed to a $60 million, eight-year contract, less than a week after his major league debut.

The Black Knights have quality talent and depth at corner, with the likes of Donavon Platt and Jaydan Mayes leading the charge.
Currently Mayes is the only top corner participating in today’s practice/scrimmage, as Platt in the injured for the moment.
GBK’s Podcast Host & Football Analyst Joe Iacono had the opportunity to connect with the Jayden following Saturday session.

Nine-man Crystal Palace clung on to a 2-1 lead through 12 minutes of second-half added time at Selhurst Park to secure their first league double over arch rivals Brighton in 92 years.
Jean-Philippe Mateta fired the hosts in front three minutes in, but Danny Welbeck drew the sides level before the break, surpassing Pascal Gross as Brighton’s top Premier League goal-scorer in the process.
