🔥Night of deciders: Wednesday’s best in the Libertadores
Today we experienced another thrilling night of the Libertadores, which brought several surprises as the groups are gradually taking shape.

The defending champion has already qualified for the round of 16
Without a doubt, Flamengo has cruised through Group A and today confirmed its place in the knockout stage.

With a goal from Pedro, they defeated Estudiantes de La Plata at the Maracanã. On the final matchday, El Pincha will fight for qualification against DIM.

If you’re looking for a microcosm of where the Cubs are at right now, look to what should have been a routine single to center field in the second inning of Wednesday night’s game against the Brewers. It might have driven in a run under typical circumstances, but it’s also possible David Hamilton’s base hit would have loaded the bases and left the scoreboard untouched, given that Pete Crow-Armstrong was fielding the ball.
Instead, this happened:

🏆Fightback night: Wednesday’s best in the Sudamericana
Another Sudamericana night has come and gone, with many groups starting to take shape and no shortage of excitement…

Olimpia is on course for qualification
In one of those matches where winning means everything, Olimpia showed its pedigree and pulled off nothing short of an epic comeback.

Carlos Cuesta scored for Vasco at the end of the first half, but the second half brought a Paraguayan storm.

CHICAGO (AP) — Jessica Shepard had her second career triple-double and the first in the WNBA this season, Arike Ogunbowale scored 11 of her 23 points in the fourth quarter, and the Dallas Wings beat the Chicago Sky 99-89 on Wednesday night.
Shepard tied her season high with 18 points on 6-for-7 shooting, added a career-best 12 assists and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Natasha Cloud hit two free throws that cut Chicago’s deficit to three points with 2:32 left, but Ogunbowale answered with a 3-pointer 11 seconds later, then hit another with 1:42 remaining that made it 93-84.

Back in October of 2025, former LSU head coach Ed Orgeron threw his name into the ring as the hopeful next head coach of the Tigers, who had just parted ways with Brian Kelly. While Orgeron didn’t get the top job, with that going to Lane Kiffin, he did get hired, eventually.
On Wednesday night, the LSU program announced that Orgeron was joining Kiffin’s staff as a special assistant to Kiffin for recruiting and defense. Orgeron is expected to be a big piece on the recruiting trail for the Tigers going forward.

ZOAR −A perfect blend of early offensive fireworks and familiar pitching dominance proved to be the ultimate championship recipe for John Glenn.
The No. 2 seeded Muskies exploded for five early runs and rode another special performance from sophomore virtuoso Kendall Snider to dethrone top-seeded Beaver Local 9-0 in the Division IV district final on Wednesday, May 20 at Tusky Valley High School.
The blowout victory moves a sparkling 25-5 John Glenn squad into the OHSAA regional tournament for the first time since 2022.

The Bears are signing running back Salvon Ahmed and safety Anthony Johnson Jr., according to Jordan Schultz of The Schultz Report.
Ahmed, 27, did not play last season after a hip-drop tackle seriously injured his ankle and ended his season during a training camp practice with the Colts. He was on the practice squad of the Broncos and Colts in 2024 but did not play a regular-season game.
From 2020-23 with the Dolphins, Ahmed rushed for 593 yards and five touchdowns in 38 games.
Johnson, 26, entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick of the Packers in 2023.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Jarren Duran’s opposite-field two-run homer in the seventh inning rallied the Boston Red Sox to a 4-3 win over the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night.
With one on and one out in the seventh, Duran sent reliever Steven Cruz’s fastball 366 feet into the bullpen in left for his sixth homer, helping the Red Sox complete a series sweep of the faltering Royals. Boston’s three-game winning streak matched its season high.

The Lowell Spinners are on their way back to the field for the first time in years with a full franchise revamp.
“Boy, it was a heck of a ride. We sold out 413 games in a row. We had some amazing players come through here: Mookie Betts, Jonathan Papelbon, Kevin Youkilis, and Johnny Damon. So it’s fun to see this kind of comeback to life,” Tim Bawmann, the Chief Operating Officer of the Lowell Spinners, said.
“….oh my god, they are specimens. They are genuinely major league candidates,” John Croteau, the Chairman and CEO of the Spinners, described.
