Kyle Busch died after severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications, according to a statement released by his family.
Dakota Hunter, vice president of Kyle Busch Companies, said in a news release the family received the medical evaluation on Saturday.
Busch, a two-time NASCAR champion, died at 41 on Thursday, a day after passing out in a Chevrolet simulator.

The Pittsburgh Steelers had what was, for them, a standard season in 2025.
The team won just enough games to run Mike Tomlin’s streak of seasons without a losing record to 19 en route to the playoffs.

CONCORD, NC — The garage area at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday morning felt less like the leadup to one of NASCAR’s major races and more like a funeral.
With cloudy skies above, crew members, drivers, fans and racing folks of all sorts gathered near the hauler of the No. 8 Cup Series car – the one that Kyle Busch last drove for Richard Childress Racing less than a week ago. NASCAR officials allowed RCR to unload its cars and roll them into the inspection garage first, a meaningful gesture following the shocking death of the 41-year-old Busch on Thursday.

At this point, it’s safe to say that Lane Kiffin is stockpiling assets. The reasoning? That much is unclear.
On Friday night, news came out that the LSU Tigers signed yet another quarterback to the roster, adding former Middle Tennessee State QB Kaden Martin via the transfer portal. Martin is the fourth QB to sign with the Tigers via the portal this offseason, joining Arizona State‘s Sam Leavitt, USC’s Husan Longstreet, and Elon’s Landon Clark.
To say that the room in Baton Rouge is crowded would be an understatement.

PARIS (AP) — Arthur Fils, the top-ranked French player at No. 19, withdrew from the French Open on Saturday because of a hip injury.
Fils had retired in the first set of his opening match at the Italian Open in his last Roland Garros warmup.
The 21-year-old Fils said his hip “was bothering me a lot” and while exams didn’t reveal any issues he still felt “a lot of pain.”
“So I was not able to practice for the last two weeks. Actually, the practice today was my first-ever points since two weeks (ago) in Rome,” Fils added.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Scott McLaughlin waited 12 months to erase the worst memory of his life.
He spent the time contemplating the haunting images of a spinning car hitting the wall last May before the race had even started, his hands flapping in anger and the frustration sinking in as he climbed out. All the inconsolable McLaughlin could do was cover his face.
He’s not going to blow it Sunday at another sold-out Indianapolis 500.
Instead, McLaughlin intends to take full advantage of a second chance on Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s 2.

In the backyard of the house I grew up in, there is a well-worn path from the garage to the back corner, where home plate would be during the wiffleball games that were played back there. That spot was worn down as well, partly due to the passage of time, but also due to the countless hours I was back there alone, tossing a ball to myself with the same cadence:
“Two outs, two strikes, bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth.

Ilia Topuria doesn’t think much of Conor McGregor’s return to the cage.
This summer, McGregor returns to the octagon after a five-year hiatus, taking on Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 329, the feature event of International Fight Week.

There has been such focus on the Chicago Bears’ defense this season that it’s easy to forget that the 2026 offense was among the league’s best.
It’s true.
