It may be the off-season for college football, but coaches and players are not sitting around sipping cocktails on a beach. Offseason workouts and strength & conditioning sessions are officially voluntary, but you have to think that teams like Alabama are likely getting 100% participation.

The French Open says it will “significantly fine” Adolfo Daniel Vallejo after he made “unacceptable” and “sexist” comments about a female umpire.
Vallejo, 22, said second-round match at Roland Garros should not have been umpired by Brazil’s Ana Carvalho as women do not have the “courage” to handle the crowd.

The Boston Red Sox are going to need to be bold if they want to turn the 2026 Major League Baseball season around. 
Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow has already acknowledged that he has had discussions with teams about potential trades to improve Boston’s offense. Boston desperately needs more firepower and specifically from the right side of the plate. 
But who should the Red Sox target? Isaac Paredes of the Houston Astros is someone who will likely get talked about a lot.

Former San Angelo Central baseball star Davis Martin allowed one run on two hits, tossing six innings as the Chicago White Sox topped the Minnesota Twins 6-2 on Thursday.
Martin (8-1) is the first White Sox pitcher since Lance Lynn in 2021 to win six straight decisions, and the first since Lucas Giolito in 2019 to win eight of his first 11 starts.

Reputation is sticky in the NFL. A couple of big seasons, a fat contract, or a famous name can keep a player propped up long after the tape stops backing it up. Hype lingers. Production moves on. That gap is where the overrated label lives. The players below are not scrubs.
Most have made Pro Bowls and cashed real checks. The issue is the distance between how they get discussed and what they actually deliver heading into 2026.  Here are five names the conversation has gotten ahead of.

The Houston Astros are struggling this season, and sitting at 26-32, they’re very much in play to become trade deadline sellers later this August.
In such a scenario, there is bound to be plenty of interest in the Astros players. Yordan Alvarez will draw interest, but Houston is not likely to trade him. The same cannot be said for a couple of other players.
