In a season that was meant to be another ascension, we’re met with the hard reality of a closing window.
Do y’all remember that band you grew up on always being good, playing high quality music, but then as everyone gets older and life changes, the music doesn’t sound the same?
That’s what the San Francisco 49ers feel like.
Amidst a year of injury, dysfunction, and just overall not feeling the same as the face-melting teams we typically associate with San Francisco, this season has been pushed to the brink of missing the playoffs.

Sixers forward Paul George left Wednesday’s loss to the Grizzlies with a hyperextended left knee, the same injury that forced him to miss the first five games of the regular season.
The No. 5 Hoosiers are undefeated but have played a weak schedule. That changes today against No. 2 Ohio State. Here are some more games you don’t want to miss.
Teammates follow their leader, and for the Memphis Grizzlies, their leader is Ja Morant. When it comes to on-court performance, he’s an unbelievable influence, but when it comes to antics on the floor and off-the-court situations, well, that’s an entirely different story.
With Desmond Bane being the second piece of the one-two punch in the Grizzlies’ backcourt, the two feed off one another, and while Morant wasn’t even suited up for Memphis’ win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday, his influence was still apparent.

Alpine driver Esteban Ocon admitted he is not too confident about the team holding onto sixth speaking in Las Vegas
The 2024 Formula 1 season began with Alpine mired at the back of the field. The A524, their challenger for the 2024 campaign, came in overweight and as a result, Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly locked out the back row at the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix.
Improvement has come, but slowly, to the Enstone-based operation.

Eli Manning doesn’t deserve to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer in 2025
“Eli Manning is a first-ballot Hall of Famer!”
No.
He is not.
On Wednesday, the Pro Football Hall of Fame released its list of the 25 modern era semifinalists for the class of 2025. I recently led a group of Hall analysts and historians in building our own list of 50, published at Hall voter Clark Judge’s site Talk of Fame, and Eli did not make our list.
As OutKick previously reported, a Colorado court awarded an emergency hearing in the lawsuit that has a dozen women suing the Mountain West Conference.
The women allege, among other things, that the conference suppressed their First Amendment rights and violated Title IX as it relates to transgender San Jose State volleyball player Blaire Fleming.
During the hearing, lawyers for both the plaintiffs and the defense were expected to deliver arguments, in addition to witness testimony.

McLaren F1 driver Lando Norris addressed luck, and what he has learned this season, ahead of the Las Vegas GP
The final sprint of the 2024 Formula 1 season begins this weekend in Sin City, with the second Las Vegas Grand Prix. In marked contrast to last year’s inaugural event, which saw Max Verstappen and Red Bull arrive already crowned the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Champions, this season both titles are up for grabs.
Verstappen can still clinch a Drivers’ Championship this weekend, but one driver remains in his way: Lando Norris.
Wisconsin QB Braedyn Locke will remain QB1 for the Badgers.
The Badgers lost last weekend 16-13 to Oregon in a game that was completely winnable, but was thrown away in large part because Wisconsin’s offense was pathetic.
Locke finished the game with 96 yards on 12/28 passing and had one touchdown and one interception. It was a horrible performance, and the third straight loss for the Badgers.
Fans have been hoping for a change under center. It’s not going to happen. Head coach Luke Fickell announced earlier in the week that Locke will remain the team’s starting QB.
