The Nuggets’ series-clinching win over the Lakers in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals Monday came down to the wire, as Nikola Jokić scored the game-winning basket with under a minute left. However, it appears as if those points shouldn’t have counted.
Jokić’s tiebreaking basket was scored after Denver was awarded possession of the ball by officials who ruled the Lakers had touched the ball last before it went out of bounds.

A major snag coud lead to another rebranding.
The process of rebranding the Washington Commanders took years. Now a huge snag could pressure the team to rebrand once again,
This week the Commanders were denied their federal trademark application by the United States Patent and Trade Office (USPTO), which could force the team’s hand at either moving forward without trademark protection — which would be a death knell in terms of merchandising.
Broncos running back Javonte Williams started out strong in his second year in the NFL last season before suffering a devastating knee injury in Week 4.
Williams tore his ACL, LCL and PLC (posterolateral corner) in his right knee, which not only ended his season, but led many observers to wonder if he could return by the start of the 2023 season.
Denver has become increasingly hopeful that he could be ready by Week 1, as Williams was able to participate in Thursday’s OTA practice on a limited basis.

Mock drafts are a necessary exercise, and not just for websites looking to boost traffic numbers during the NFL offseason. Teams also run through simulations of the draft, to game out different scenarios in preparation for the real thing.
Perhaps the New York Jets learned a lot from those exercises.
In the days and weeks following each NFL draft, the teams share behind-the-scenes videos from draft weekend.
Accusations on social media of sexual assault and harassment pointed at Arkansas quarterback Kade Renfro that surfaced Thursday have not led to an arrest as of yet, but he is off the football team.
“Upon gaining knowledge of the allegations against a student-athlete earlier this week, we immediately informed the University’s Title IX office of the allegations. The student-athlete is no longer a member of the football team,” the Arkansas athletic department said in a statement released Thursday. “We have notified the relevant offices on our campus.
Take this with a grain of salt, but former NFL star Antonio Brown claims he will suit up for the Albany Empire arena football team on Saturday.
For those unfamiliar, the Empire is the National Arena League team that Brown sorta owns, but also possibly doesn’t.
Brown reportedly ran one route during practice on Thursday and then told reporters he plans to playing in Saturday’s game against Fayetteville, according to Griffin Haas of WTEN. The report comes on the heels of Brown’s agent claiming that the wide receiver is receiving “genuine interest” from NFL teams.
One month after the title was unveiled, WWE is ready to crown its inaugural world heavyweight champion.
Seth Rollins and AJ Styles will face off in the title tournament finals at Night of Champions on Saturday. The pay-per-view is being held in Saudi Arabia as part of WWE’s long-term business agreement with the Saudi government.
Establishing a new championship in pro wrestling is always difficult. But it’s especially hard when the new champion is supposed to be on the same level as Roman Reigns. Reigns is currently in the midst of the most dominant title reign in modern WWE history.
With NFL Sunday Ticket moving to YouTube TV for the 2023 season, the streaming service is dealing with an influx of new subscribers. It also means YouTube TV will be changing some of its streaming rules to please its new audience.
Usually, YouTube TV limits accounts to three simultaneous streams, meaning one account can’t play the same program on more than three devices at the same time.
Good morning, I’m Dan Gartland. I take back what I said Wednesday. I think the Celtics are going to do it. (And a quick programming note: We won’t have a newsletter Monday because of the holiday, but we’ll be back on Tuesday … maybe after a Celtics-Heat Game 7.)

Trump National Golf Club in Washington, D.C. is playing host to LIV Golf this weekend. Donald Trump played in the Pro-Am on Thursday, which triggered the New York Times to write a 1,200-word story about how the former President playing a meaningless round of golf on a course he owns is terrible for LIV Golf and its perception among Americans.
The story is disguised as a golf piece, when in reality it’s an excuse for the publication to rip into Trump and remind its readers that anything the former President does in public is deplorable.
