Game 1 of the Eastern Conference final was the longest game in franchise history for both the Panthers and Hurricanes and sixth-longest the NHL has ever seen.
Entering the Western Conference Finals, LeBron James and Anthony Davis were 26–11 as a tandem in the playoffs. Headed back to Los Angeles after two games in Denver, LeBron and AD together are now 26–13—and that’s in large part because their two-man game is being bested by Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray.
Once again, there is plenty to unpack after the Nuggets’ 108–103 win over the Lakers on Thursday, a victory that gave Denver a 2–0 lead in the series and put it only two wins away from the Finals. Los Angeles switched its starting lineup to include Jarred Vanderbilt.
LeBron James isn’t shooting well, playing maximum minutes and nursing that injury even more. After two games, Lakers are looking like they’re on the ropes.
After leading the Nuggets to a 108–103 Game 2 win over the Lakers, coach Michael Malone delivered a strong statement to the media regarding his perception of the pro-Lakers narratives he says have surrounded the Western Conference finals thus far.
Prior to Thursday’s Game 2, Malone made headlines after dismissing reports of the Lakers’ plan to have forward Rui Hachimura see more time as Nikola Jokić’s primary defender over Anthony Davis. As it turns out, L.A.
After struggling for the first three quarters, the Nuggets’ star point guard Jamal Murray saved his best for the final 12 minutes of action.
Murray scored 23 of his 37 points in the fourth quarter, helping the Nuggets complete a 108–103 win in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals.
The sixth-year veteran’s performance down the stretch helped Denver take a commanding 2–0 series lead. It was Murray’s fourth career 20-point fourth quarter in the playoffs, the most of any player over the last 25 years.
As one of ESPN’s top reporters for over two decades, Lisa Salters has seen a lot of superstars in action while covering the NBA and NFL for the network. But, according to Salters herself, one of those premier talents, somehow, slipped under her radar for years.
Appearing on Thursday’s The Rich Eisen Show, Salters made the stunningly candid admission that she had “never seen” Nuggets star Nikola Jokić play prior to Denver’s Game 1 Western Conference Finals victory over the Lakers.
West top seed remains undefeated at home in playoffs after Jamal Murray leads decisive 4th-quarter surge to take 2-0 series lead back to L.A.
Oh no … has LeBron James lost a step?
During Thursday’s Game 2 against the Denver Nuggets, LeBron had an embarrassing missed fastbreak dunk that begged questions about the man’s longevity, which hasn’t been a problem yet.

Perhaps it’s an unfair standard to criticize the 38-year-old for not pulling off impressive dunks in Year 20, but this is what LeBron’s known for … superhuman athleticism and dunks.
With the Lakers holding a 40–32 lead over the Nuggets mid-way through the second quarter of Game 2, LeBron James did the unthinkable.
Off a pass by Rui Hachimura, the four-time NBA champion was in the clear for what appeared to a highlight slam dunk. Instead, after gathering in the ball and taking off from just inside the free throw line, James lost control of the ball and lost possession out of bounds.
The blunder was shockingly uncharacteristic for James and one of just a few mistakes made by the Lakers as they raced out to a 53–48 halftime lead.
