The NHL must be breathing a sigh of relief after the Edmonton Oilers gave us a series when it looked like the Florida Panthers would make short work of them, and that’s reflected in some big numbers for Monday night’s Game 7 that saw the Panthers avoiding the choke to end all chokes and winning the Stanley Cup.
The numbers are in and according to the league, the 16.3 million viewers from across North America who tuned into the game is the second most since 2004.

You don’t see this scene in baseball often, outside of your uncle’s adult rec league games. Cincinnati Reds ace Hunter Greene, pitching against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday, puked after delivering a pitch on the mound in a bizarre scene made for an “Eastbound & Down” episode.
After throwing his seventh pitch of the game, facing Bryan Reynolds with no outs in the first, Hunter Greene abruptly threw up, prompting a surprised look from Reynolds.
Greene shook off the gross moment, also tallied as a ball, before the thousands of home fans in Cincy.

Former NBA center Kendrick Perkins called out former teammate Brian Scalabrine after Scal referred to Perk as a ‘banned’ figure in Boston.
Scalabrine, who played in the 2008 Boston Celtics championship team alongside Kendrick Perkins, revealed that Perk wasn’t invited to the C’s recent championship parade, which upset Perkins.
Scalabrine made the comments on SiriusXM and was asked about Perkins’ absence from the parade.
“No, no, no, no, no, no,” Scalabrine responded, calling Perk a pariah inside the Celtics organization.
“Big scarlet letter.

One day after losing to Tennessee in the College World Series and pledging his love for Texas A&M, Jim Schlossnagle is reportedly accepting the same position at Texas.
Following the gut-wrenching loss Monday night, Aggies head coach Jim Schlossnagle took aim at a reporter during the postgame news conference for being asked about the opening at Texas. He professed his allegiance to the Texas A&M baseball program, trying his best to shut down talk of him taking the Longhorns coaching position.

I don’t know what your list of “worst case scenarios” on one of the biggest days of your life consists of, but getting trapped inside a porta-potty has to be near the top of the list. That’s the exact nightmare one runner experienced at this past weekend’s Olympic Track and Field trials, but she didn’t let that stop her from punching her ticket to Paris.
Now, that’s the kind of gumption we like to see out of our Olympians.

The Los Angeles Lakers officially introduced JJ Redick as their new head coach.
The hiring has been met with criticism, mostly from black media members who say Redick skipped the line over veteran black coaches. But the hysteria around Redick took an unexpected turn Tuesday.

The WNBA seems hellbent on making sure that it doesn’t grow too much at a time when the league is seeing unprecedented attention. The WNBA has changed its media policy to allow teams to designate two players who are exempt from shootaround media availability on game days.
The Chicago Sky have already informed reporters that it plans to exercise that exemption on rookies Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso.
As of now, we don’t know whether any other teams in the WNBA plan to utilize this exemption for any other players.

In case you needed more examples of why traditional outlets like the Los Angeles Times are dying a rapid death, its attack on the Los Angeles Dodgers by its “climate columnist” may be the best yet.
No one would accuse the Dodgers of not being sufficiently progressive; after all, they spit in the faces of Catholic fans in 2023 by honoring a drag group that hatefully mocks Catholicism and Christianity. But as the Dodgers are hopefully now learning, you can never pander enough to placate the far left.
