We’ve unfortunately reached the final major championship of 2024, but at least the final major on the calendar is The Open, which tends to deliver from every angle more often than not.
The last time The Open was held at Royal Troon the event turned into a two-man race between Henrik Stenson and Phil Mickelson before the Swede ultimately reached 20-under to best the lefty by three.

Brian Harman returned the Claret Jug on Monday as he reminisced about his time as the Champion Golfer of the Year.
Monday of the Open Championship week always seems bittersweet for the reigning champion. They have to return the Claret Jug to the R&A so they can prepare for this year’s event.
Last year, Brian Harman won his first major championship at Royal Liverpool by six shots. The former Georgia Bulldog was the Champion Golfer of the Year for the past 365 days, and that trophy saw a lot.
In the year since Skenes was drafted No. 1 overall, the Pirates’ new ace crafted something we haven’t seen to add to his fastball-slider combo. It’s mystifying MLB.

The Open Championship begins this week at Royal Troon, so we ranked the top 50 players in the field based on their chances of winning.
The world’s best players have descended upon Royal Troon for The 152nd Open Championship, the final major of the season. So, to help break down the tournament, we ranked the top 50 players in this week’s field, ranked by their chances of winning the Claret Jug:
50.
At this time two years ago, Paul Skenes was a relatively unknown transfer pitcher from the Air Force Academy about to enroll at LSU, which hadn’t been to the College World Series since 2017.
He was known in college baseball circles, yes, but those are still at the shallow end of the sports pool. He did win the John Olerud award in 2022 at Air Force that goes to the best two-way player in the country as he hit .314 with 13 home runs and was 10-3 with a 2.73 ERA and 96 strikeouts. But his fastball averaged only 93 mph.
DALLAS-Alabama fans, the world is not ending, but Nick Saban has certainly given his former team some “rat poison” as they prepare for the 2024 season.
Not seeing Nick Saban at the podium this year has been a bit awkward for those around SEC Media Days, but it’s not as if he’s far away. Located in the back of the ballroom where coaches are discussing their teams outlook for 2024, the former Alabama coach is on the set for the SEC Network and ESPN, breaking down the upcoming season, along with handing out predictions.
Plenty of NFL players have been vocally opposed to participating in HBO’s Hard Knocks. And you can add Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward to that list.
This year, the Emmy-winning docu-series will follow the entire AFC North for its “In Season” installment. That means viewers will get a behind-the-scenes view of the Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals as they battle for playoff spots in the final weeks of the season. And on last week’s Not Just Football podcast, Heyward made it clear he’s not at all excited about it.
In case you were wondering where ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum stood on the University of Colorado football program, you can rest easy tonight.
He hates them. HATES them. It’s only July and Paul is beyond DONE with the Colorado Buffaloes. Not so much Deion Sanders, but certainly Colorado.
Finebaum took a seat this afternoon, live from SEC Media Day No. 1, grabbed the biggest sledgehammer he could find in Dallas, and ruthlessly started beating the piss out of the entire football program in a wild two-minute segment.
Enjoy!
Whoaaaaaaaaa Nellie! What a rant.

Hopefully he brings that winning mentality to LA
While Los Angeles Lakers’ second round pick Bronny James is in the midst of summer league right now, there’s bound to be some down time in between games. It’s the perfect time for bonding with your new teammates or members of the NBA via video games.
James did just that, winning a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III challenge, taking out Grant Williams in a 2-minute challenge. James ended up getting $10,000 and a custom championship belt for his victory.
