The New York Jets continue to be the New York Jets. In every possible way.
The Jets entered Thursday night’s game against the Houston Texans with their season on the line. A brutal loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday dropped New York to 2-6, sending hopes for a playoff berth crashing. But anything can happen in football, and the first step to a resurgent season would be a clean, well-played game against a heavily favored Texans team.
It didn’t exactly start out that way.
Unrivaled, the newly formed 3-on-3 women’s basketball league, added Fever star Aliyah Boston as its 30th player Thursday and plans to add six additional players before the league opens play in January.
After 42 seasons, Bob Costas is retiring from baseball play-by-play. Costas had done games the past couple seasons for MLB Network and TBS Sports.
Magic star Paolo Banchero has been diagnosed with a torn right oblique and is sidelined indefinitely, the team announced on Thursday.

You won’t see a better NFL catch this year.
The New York Jets and Houston Texans matchup to start Week 9 in Thursday Night Football has been a slog, but it’s still featured some ridiculous moments. Take, for example, Jets rookie Malachi Corley pulling a DeSean Jackson and dropping a would-be touchdown on the 1-yard line for a fumble.
On the flip side, the Jets actually did get in the end zone thanks to a spectacular catch from star wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
Wilson’s catch was hard to believe.
Jonathan Papelbon knows what it takes to become a World Series champion, and he isn’t too surprised that the 2024 New York Yankees didn’t get the job done.
Papelbon joined OutKick’s “Hot Mic” show on Thursday to discuss what went wrong with the Yankees, and what he’d have done differently. And there was plenty.
One of the top problems Papelbon had with New York’s strategy was that they continued pitching to Los Angeles Dodgers star first baseman Freddie Freeman.
