The Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Major League Baseball Players Association and the 30 team owners is set to expire after the 2026 season. And the players are already preparing themselves for a work stoppage.
MLBPA head Tony Clark spoke to reporters at San Francisco Giants spring training camp in Scottsdale this week, saying he believes that the league is set to lock players out after the 2026 season in order to secure a better deal.
“Unless I am mistaken, the league has come out and said there’s going to be a work stoppage,” Clark said, Per Sportico.
Kansas Jayhawks guard Zeke Mayo was racially harassed following a game against No. 10 Texas Tech on Saturday.
Mayo and the Jayhawks played host to the Red Raiders at Allen Fieldhouse, and ended up losing to the visitors 78-73. On top of the loss, Mayo had a particularly poor showing, going 1-7 from the field and 0-5 from beyond the arc. He finished the game with five points, three rebounds, and an assist.
After transferring from South Dakota State at the beginning of the season, many expected Mayo to be a major factor in the Jayhawks’ success.
One of the Pittsburgh Panthers’ defensive backs was killed in a car accident in Fishers, IN.
Freshman Mason Alexander was a passenger in a BMW when the driver attempted to pass a car. Unfortunately, a car in the opposite lane came straight for the BMW, with the driver attempting to swerve out of the way to avoid colliding. However, it ended up going off the road and hitting a tree, causing the vehicle to catch fire. Alexander was declared dead at the crash site.
Lou Dort was ejected after the incident broke out on Sunday night in San Antonio, too.

A 21-year-old transgender track and field athlete named Sadie Schreiner won two USA Track and Field (USTFA) Open Masters Championships on Saturday. One was by forfeit, and one was against teenage competition.
Schriener was scheduled to race against 17-year-old Anna Vidolova and 16-year-old Amaris Hiatt in the 400-meter dash (the event was held in New York). However, both of these girls courageously decided to not race against the transgender athlete, and they forfeited the race.

The 2024 World Series wasn’t particularly close, nor did it seem to be particularly contentious on the field. The aftermath though, has ratcheted up the tension between the victorious Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees.
