Fans better start mentally preparing for the NCAA Tournament field to expand, even if it’s a very foolish and dumb idea.
There’s been speculation for years that the men’s tournament could expand to as many as 90+ teams, and those of us with common sense have been arguing for the field to not grow.
Well, it sounds like it’s likely to happen, just at a reduced rate of growth.
“We’re not talking about 96. There is little to no appetite for 96 teams, or really even 80,” a college administrator with knowledge of the situation told The Athletic.

How does one honor one of the greatest football centers of all time? By digging up a decades-old misspelled tweet, naturally.
Shortly after Philadelphia Eagles’ Jason Kelce announced his retirement on Monday, fans sought to find the best way to honor the 36-year-old legend. Some poured out their emotions, others poured out a dram of whiskey and still others reminisced on the day when the Eagles selected the Cincinnati offensive lineman in the sixth round—and subsequently misspelled his name.

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge is the favorite for American League Most Valuable Player heading into the 2024 season.
AL MVP futures present more value with Shohei Ohtani now in the National League. Ohtani has won the award in two of the last three seasons (2021 and ’23), while Judge, the current favorite for the award, won in ’22.
Judge is only one season removed from his MVP season and there are plenty of reasons to think he can bring home a second.

After five seasons at the helm in New York, the Giants are “absolutely done” with quarterback Daniel Jones, according to NFL Network broadcaster and radio host Rich Eisen.
Jones will enter the 2024 season after an injury-filled campaign a year prior that saw him play in just six games, but Eisen isn’t convinced that’s bought him any sort of time in the Big Apple.
The ginormous elephant in the room is Jones’ contract, which is worth $160 million total with three years still remaining.

The scramble for J.J. McCarthy is apparently on.
Crazy, right? A few weeks ago, McCarthy was seemingly the No. 4, 5 or 6 quarterback in a class of NFL prospects of which only three were believed likely to be selected in the first round of the April draft.
So Caleb Williams, Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels were at the top of the draft class. And McCarthy, Michael Penix Jr. and Bo Nix were vying for a spot just behind them.
Then teams started a closer scrutiny on prospects in preparation for last week’s scouting combine in Indianapolis.

Here’s our latest NFL mock draft with major movement after the scouting combine.
The NFL scouting combine has come and gone, and with it, another step in the 2024 NFL Draft cycle has been completed.
While the Combine has some ups and downs in terms of its use, what we learned from this event is how the first round could potentially shake out. We know what’ll happen with the first overall pick—the Chicago Bears are going to take USC’s Caleb Williams. However, picks 2-32 leave a bit of intrigue as to who the picks will be.

PHILADELPHIA – Philadelphia 76ers limited partner David Adelman ushers this journalist to the front of the Horwitz-Wasserman Holocaust Memorial Plaza at 16th and Arch Streets, at the head of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and tells him to look down.
“Read this,” Adelman says, taking a step back to allow time to soak in the important scripture on the tablet.
The first two sentences hit like a ton of bricks.
“Sam Wasserman’s story of Holocaust survival is one of both tragedy and hope.

Chuck had a good run.
Former NBA star and TNT analyst Charles Barkley, 61, issued a ridiculous response to a joke about the Black community made by former President Donald Trump.
Trump made the comments at a rally in South Carolina last week.
Racism, election denial, Trump’s a danger to the country … Charles Barkley went off the deep end in his segment on his CNN show, co-hosted by Gayle King.
Barkley gave an ignited response to Black Trump voters, saying he could punch any Black person supporting No. 45 and his mugshot moment after Trump made a crack about it at his rally.

Free agency is typically a trap of bad contracts with hoards of dead money waiting for teams in the near future. But every now and then, a general manager finds gold.
We’ve seen the occasional free-agent deal lead directly to a Super Bowl. Look no further than the Denver Broncos, who stocked their 2015 team with outside talent including Peyton Manning, DeMarcus Ware and Aqib Talib. The Kansas City Chiefs have also used free agency as a boon to their dynasty, with signings including Tyrann Mathieu, Mitchell Schwartz and Justin Reid.

Jason Kelce spent all 13 seasons of his NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles but there was one other team that had part of his heart in recent years—the Kansas City Chiefs.
Jason Kelce’s younger brother, Travis Kelce, has been a star for the Chiefs and the two had some classic battles on the field, including in Super Bowl LVII when they made NFL history by playing against each other in the championship game.
Jason Kelce retired on Monday with an emotional press conference that had his little brother in tears and had the NFL world singing his praises.
