Kelsey Plum said she’ll have conspiracy theories if A’ja Wilson is not the unanimous MVP. Wilson is just focused on being the best teammate she can be.
UNCASVILLE, CONNECTICUT — It’s a Friday morning at the Mohegan Sun Arena, and A’ja Wilson and the rest of the Las Vegas Aces have just completed shootaround. They are a few hours away from a match-up against one of the WNBA’s premier teams — the Connecticut Sun — a game they would go on to win.
It hasn’t been a perfect season for the two-time defending champions; they hovered around .

With more games like Week 2, Kyler Murray could vie for both Comeback Player of the Year and MVP
QB of the Week highlights the quarterback having the best week, on the field and within the context of the sport, and Week 2 provided an abundance of worthy options: Baker Mayfield, Derek Carr, Geno Smith, and Justin Fields are all 2-0, as is Week 1’s QB of the Week, Sam Darnold. Tropical Storm “Minshew Mania” has migrated into the Las Vegas desert. Captain Comeback came back on Monday Night Football.

The Phoenix Mercury point guard, widely considered one of the greatest basketball players in history, is finishing up her 20th season in the WNBA.
For the past few weeks, the Phoenix Mercury have hinted on social media that retirement could be coming for Diana Taurasi, the all-time leading scorer in WNBA history and one of the greatest to ever play the game.
The campaign — tagged ‘If this is it’ — urged fans to purchase tickets to the Mercury’s last games of the season, just in case the 42-year-old point guard is retiring.

The kicker position is a tricky one if you don’t have the biggest names. Linda Godfrey offers streaming advice for the position in Week 3.
Week 2 felt a little like a minefield. Dodging injury updates and looking at fantasy matchups through squinted eyes hoping you weren’t facing Alvin Kamara. After a little KP from my calls last week we can put that behind us and look forward to Week 3.
The thing about injuries is you can’t be proven right or wrong when they occur.

Kate Magdziuk shares her Week 3 running back rankings for standard scoring leagues and highlights several streaming options.
As if the injury to Christian McCaffrey wasn’t enough to break the hearts of fantasy football managers, the injury bug just couldn’t quit here in Week 2. It dealt another blow to close out Week 2, as Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco suffered a fractured fibula that will sideline him for a significant period of time.

Caleb Williams wasn’t interested in hearing C.J. Stroud’s advice after the Texans beat the Bears.
Houston beat Chicago 19-13 Monday night, and the former USC star’s rookie season in the NFL is off to a rough start.
Through two games, Williams has thrown for 267 yards, no touchdowns, has two interceptions and is completing an abysmal 56.1% of his passes.
Both of his interceptions came against the Texans, and he didn’t look like he wanted to hear any words of encouragement.

Sheryl Swoopes has said something moronic about Caitlin Clark. In other news, it’s a day that ends with the letter ‘y’ and water continues to be wet.
The former WNBA star has, for whatever reason, made it a point to become Clark’s biggest critic this season. Anytime Swoopes says something positive about the rookie phenom, she has to back it up with some sort of criticism immediately.

The No Fun League struck again Monday night when NFL refs flagged Falcons WR Drake London because his post-TD gun celebration was deemed inappropriate.
That’s fine. Whatever. I think the NFL despises anyone who wants to show a shred of emotion, and it’s annoyed the hell out of me for years, but, at this point, I’m numb to it. Refs also flagged Jalen Hurts for a delay of game because he spiked the ball after rushing 30 yards on fourth and 3.
I mean, how stupid. But whatever. Like I said, I’m numb to it and this isn’t the point of this blog.

Bears rookie QB Caleb Williams has one big fan in his corner
The jury remains out on Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams after just two games.
But the young passer has one big believer in his NFL future.
Houston Texans second-year quarterback C.J. Stroud.
Stroud and the Texans hosted Williams and the Bears on Sunday Night Football, with the Texans coming out on top 19-13 in that game. While Stroud completed 23-of-36 passes for 260 yards and a touchdown, Williams connected on 23-of-37 passes for just 174 yards and an interception.

Deion Sanders continues to operate a circus in Boulder.
The Colorado Buffaloes are 2-1 after beating in-state rival Colorado State in impressive fashion this past weekend, but when the team played an opponent with an actual pulse – Nebraska – they got boat raced off the field.
There’s still nothing to suggest the Buffs will compete at a high level this year, but that’s okay because Deio has a new target:
The media.
