The NCAA has decided to put on the brakes when it comes to investigations pertaining to NIL and third-party collectives. The announcement comes in the wake of the preliminary injunction granted against the NCAA in a lawsuit involving the States of Tennessee and Virginia regarding NIL.
A decision to halt all investigations is a move that was potentially expected for the enforcement staff, given that they did not know what boundaries were in place to continue investigating schools that might have broken rules in the past.

Mecole Hardman addressed the recent allegations swirling around social media that he leaked the New York Jets’ game plans to opponents during his time with the organization.
“There were FALSE accusations made about me and MY CHARACTER! To set the record straight, I have never and would never leak game plans to another team,” Hardman posted to social media on Friday.

Some high school hockey fans in — would you believe? — Minnesota got so fired up they wound up breaking not one, but two panes of glass… and it was only the second period.
High school hockey is a lot of fun, and student sections can get wild. I’ve never experienced one firsthand, but that was because I spent my high school years out on the ice saucing some crispest breakout passes the Central Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League has ever witnessed.
Still, I’ve seen what they can do, and nowhere are people more crazy about high school puck than in the State of Hockey.

After a brief reunion in 2023, the New England Patriots are moving on from cornerback J.C. Jackson once again.
The Patriots announced they cut the former Pro Bowler on Friday afternoon. New England acquired Jackson in a trade with the Los Angeles Chargers on Oct. 4.
Jackson’s eight-game, six-start stopover with the Patriots in ’23 represented his second stint with the team. The Maryland product played for New England from 2018 to ’21, winning Super Bowl LIII as a rookie and reaching the Pro Bowl in 2021.

Kris Bryant won the 2016 MVP Award with the Chicago Cubs, followed it up with a 7-WAR 2017, and had a 4.7 win season in 2019. All that’s to say, Bryant is an exceptionally talented baseball player when healthy.
What he’s apparently not so good at is researching the team he commits to play for in free agency.
Bryant detailed to The Athletic in a recent interview the process that led him to sign with the Colorado Rockies. And it doesn’t sound like Bryant really thought through exactly what joining the Rockies would mean for his future baseball career.

Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins is a potential first round pick in the 2024 NFL draft, and his performance at the NFL combine should have helped his case. However, Wiggins injured himself while participating in the 40-yard dash on Friday, ending his combine early.
Wiggins ran an official 4.28 in the 40-yard dash, which was the best time among players to run the event so far. Still, the NFL Network broadcast reported that Wiggins felt a “pop” in his groin, and went to the training room for further evaluation.

Cam Newton has apologized for his role in a wild scuffle at a 7-on-7 youth football camp on Sunday.
During the camp held at Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy in Atlanta, GA, Newton fought with several men who approached him from all sides. Despite being outnumbered, the 6-foot-5, 245-pound respectably held his own and threw a couple solid punches. Eventually, security came and broke up the scuffle.
The coaches of the opposing team, TopShelf Performance, both said that Newton allegedly started the entire thing by taunting in the parking lot.

Nick Dunlap, who became the first amateur in over 30 years to win on the PGA Tour, is looking to do it again at the Cognizant Classic.
Nick Dunlap made history in January at The American Express, where he became the first amateur to win on the PGA Tour since Phil Mickelson did so in 1991. He was also the youngest to do so since 1910.
But he made his own history again on Friday, recording his first-ever hole-in-one as a PGA Tour professional.
