We were supposed to get a Super Bowl rematch, but these two teams are vulnerable.
What a difference a year makes. Nobody was remotely as good as the Chiefs and Eagles when we closed out Week 18 of the 2022 NFL season. The class of the AFC and NFC respectively, it always felt destined that we’d hurtle towards a Kansas City vs. Philadelphia showdown, barring a major surprise in the playoffs.
Now, nothing could be further from the truth.

Matthew Stafford will return to Ford Field to face the Detroit Lions to get the playoffs started.
The Rams and Lions play in Detroit Sunday night, and fans couldn’t have dreamed up a better scenario when it comes to potential storylines.
Stafford was a star QB for the Lions from 2009 through 2020. He put up monster stats, but the former first overall pick couldn’t ever find real success.
He immediately won a Super Bowl with the Rams, and as a huge Lions fan, I must admit it was awesome to see him lift the Lombardi Trophy.

Ticket prices continue to fall for the national title game between Michigan and Washington.
The Huskies and Wolverines will battle it out for four quarters Monday night to crown a new national champion in college football.
The good news for people hoping to attend the game is ticket prices continue to fall ahead of kickoff. Prices plummeted down to $2,101 after Texas failed to make the title game, and prices are still on a heavy decline.
As of publication, the cheapest ticket on SeatGeek with fees included is $1,210, and the average price is right around $2,100.

That’s 272 games down, 13 to go …
A full post–Aaron Rodgers regular season is in the books, and the Green Bay Packers look the same as they ever were. In saying that, I’m not telling you the Packers are about to embark on another 15 years at quarterback like the 30 they just had.
But as far as being up to the task of following a legend? Jordan Love has been all of that.
And he’s done it simply by giving the Packers a familiar feeling: normalcy. And that normalcy was reflected vividly in a text Rodgers sent Love on Sunday morning.

Josh Allen and Buffalo Bills may have ended Week 18 in glorious fashion, but as the star quarterback acknowledged after beating the Miami Dolphins, the real praise belongs with a team far from the playoff picture.
Allen’s Bills iced Sunday’s season finale with a 21–14 win over the Dolphins that improved a playoff berth secured for the club earlier in the day after the Tennessee Titans spoiled the Jacksonville Jaguars’ bid. During his postgame press conference, Allen made sure to express how relieved he was entering the game and thank the Titans for beating the Jags.

The Miami Dolphins were put in an awkward situation before their Sunday night showdown against the Buffalo Bills that functioned as the AFC East championship.
Because the long-eliminated Tennessee Titans spoiled the Jacksonville Jaguars’ season by beating them in the early window, thus handing the AFC’s final two playoff spots to the Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers, the Dolphins knew hours before their own game that a win would result in a third matchup against the Bills next week to open the postseason.

Arthur Smith’s tenure as Atlanta Falcons coach has ended, the team announced late Sunday night. Needing to finish the season with sound optics, the team was drubbed by the Chicago Bears and then the division-rival New Orleans Saints in back-to-back weeks.
The postgame coaches handshake following the Saints game devolved into an airing of grievances, with Smith chastising New Orleans coach Dennis Allen for a fake kneeldown score at the end of the game (a player audible for which Allen would later apologize).

The Atlanta Falcons have reportedly fired coach Arthur Smith following the team’s 48–17 loss against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Smith had been the head coach of the Falcons since 2021. The team finished 7–10 in each of his three seasons at the helm.
Smith ends his tenure in Atlanta with a 21–30 record, having failed to make the playoffs in any of his three seasons.
Falcons owner Arthur Blank released a statement regarding the decision to fire Smith, via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
