Justin Fields has been good as the Pittsburgh Steelers starting quarterback as that team has forged a 4-2 record. But coach Mike Tomlin isn’t reaching for merely good and that’s the reason Russell Wilson has a chance this week to become the team’s new starter.
That’s not me saying that.
That comes directly from Tomlin himself, which has the added value of making it unimpeachable.
“Justin has been really good,” Tomlin said at his regularly scheduled Tuesday press conference. “And we’ve been really good at times. But not to be confused with great.

The Bills have acquired the WR1. We break down what it means for fantasy football.
The Cleveland Browns are having a disaster of a season, and on Tuesday they began tearing things down. The team traded wide receiver Amari Cooper and a 2025 sixth round pick to the Buffalo Bills for a 2025 third round pick and a 2026 seventh round pick. When Cooper finishes his physical, the deal will become official.
Cooper was leading the Browns in receiving with 24 receptions for 250 yards and two touchdowns.
Hello new/old friend.
It’s been a rollercoaster 12 hours for the New York Jets. Disappointed Jets fans woke up Tuesday morning following a crushing loss to the Bills, but then everything immediately got better with the breaking news that the team had traded for Davante Adams.

Formula 1 is making its second of three stops on US soil this weekend with the United States Grand Prix at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas, and if you’re planning on watching, be sure to study that spotters guide, because Alpine just made this weekend way more confusing than it needs to be thanks to a special promotional deal for the upcoming Indiana Jones video game.
The new game — which is titled Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and it looks fantastic — comes out for some platforms later this year, and so the marketing machine has been firing up.

Sometimes all you need is one spark and Mark Vientos found the spark that he needed for the biggest hit of his Postseason so far.
As the old baseball axiom goes, “momentum is the next day’s starting pitcher.” In a world where momentum does exist and has a real and tangible impact on a series of baseball games, the Los Angeles Dodgers probably would’ve continued to bop the New York Mets upside their collective heads in Game 2 after opening up this season’s NLCS with a dominant 9-0 win.
The Detroit Pistons have been the laughingstock of the NBA for a half-decade now, having won 23 or fewer games in each of the last five seasons. That 23-win season came during the 2021-22 campaign, and while it’s hard to fathom the franchise has taken a step backward since then, it has, having won 17 and 14 games over the last two seasons, respectively.
After the Pistons’ 14-win campaign a year ago that didn’t see the team win its fifth game until past the halfway point of the season, it understandably parted ways with head coach Monty Williams.
Finnish hockey player Janne Puhakka — that nation’s first openly gay professional player — has been murdered by his partner in a disturbing incident just outside of Helsinki.
According to TMZ Sports, local reports stated that Puhakka, 29, was found dead in the home in Henttaa, Espoo — a suburb of Helsinki — that he had formerly shared with his partner, 66-year-old Norwegian veterinarian Rolf Nordmo.
Police quickly determined that the death was a homicide and suspected that Nordmo had been the shooter.
Jerry Jones did the unthinkable Tuesday morning, turning both coward AND bully in a matter of minutes during his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan’s Shan & RJ.
The 82-year-old Cowboys owner turned super defensive after being asked some simple questions about the Cowboys’ latest embarrassment after losing 47-9 to the Detroit Lions to put Dallas at 3-3 on the year.

I can’t believe we are already at the halfway point of the 2024 season, but there hasn’t been a dull weekend since we started this college football ride in August. Whether it’s Ole Miss catching their second loss of the season on the second Saturday of October, the chaos in the Big Ten and SEC, or the dysfunction in Florida, there hasn’t been a lack of storylines.
But now we’re getting down to the pivotal point of the season, with the first college football playoff poll coming out in a few weeks.
