Dan Mullen says he will not be the next coach of the Syracuse Orange.
The search is underway for a new coach for the Orange after Dino Babers was fired. Seemingly out of nowhere, the former Florida coach’s name was floated as a serious possibility to take over at Syracuse. He served as a GA with the Orange in 1998, and hasn’t coached since being fired by Florida in 2021.
Well, Syracuse fans holding out hope Mullen will take over the Orange and lead them to glory can give up. It’s not going to happen.

From Max Verstappen’s dominance, to a Williams resurgence, here are the lessons from the 2023 F1 season
The 2023 Formula 1 season is in the books. The final 58 laps of the year, in Sunday’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, settled all outstanding business for the 2023 campaign. We saw the battle for P2 in the Constructors’ Championship between Mercedes and Ferrari come down to the final lap of the season, and we saw something similar play out in the fight for seventh between Williams and AlphaTauri.
Perhaps you’ve heard of Joshua Dobbs, the itinerant NFL genius who hijacked the first half of this strangest of NFL seasons, in which more typical story lines have been bludgeoned by a play with “tush” in the name, an international pop star and now America’s most famous engineer. That’s Dobbs, by the way, part rocket scientist, part journeyman quarterback, part folk hero.
But rather than continue wearing thin his remarkable but oft-told, Mad Libs–style backstory, maybe a different tact works better.
After starting the season with three straight wins, Deion Sanders’ Colorado team lost eight of its last nine games including six straight losses to close out Coach Prime’s first season in Boulder. Losses on the field are turning into losses on the recruiting trail as well and the latest has come in the form of Anwann Hill Jr. decommitting from the Buffaloes.
The 6-foot-5 quarterback out of Warner Robins, GA is considered a four-star recruit and had been committed to Colorado since October, but the 2025 signal-caller announced over the weekend he would be reopening his recruitment.
Michigan State head coach Jonathan Smith had an interesting vibe on his way to East Lansing.
The Spartans sent shockwaves through the college football world when they hired Smith away from Oregon State. He went from saying no decision had been made to taking the bag from the Big Ten program in a shocking amount of time.
He’s a great hire for MSU as the program attempts to move on from the Mel Tucker disaster. However, his vibe on the plane to his new home was a bit funny.

The Philadelphia Eagles rallied late to force overtime at home on Sunday and then beat the Buffalo Bills in stunning fashion with a walk-off touchdown run by Jalen Hurts in overtime to get the 37-34 victory that moves them to 10-1 on the year.
Eagles center Jason Kelce wowed fans with his crushing block on the game-winning touchdown. After the game, however, all he wanted to do was talk about his quarterback and the way he thrives in the clutch.
Diontae Johnson didn’t even try to grab this loose ball.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are an unlikely playoff contender despite having a negative point-differential, and one of the worst passing offenses in the NFL. On Sunday in Week 12, the Steelers knocked out the Cincinnati Bengals, 16-10, with Jake Browning playing at QB for the injured Joe Burrow. The Steelers’ offense finally clicked, finishing with 421 total yards, the first time they’ve crossed 400 in 59 games.
The Steelers still can’t play a normal game even when they win.
The ‘SNF’ booth was missing Cris Collinsworth for the Baltimore Ravens’, 20-10, win over the Los Angeles Chargers and his replacement, Jason Garrett, was far from great.
The former Dallas Cowboys head coach was alongside Mike Tirico for the call because Collinsworth got the holiday weekend off after working last Thursday’s 49ers-Seahawks game.

There is nothing special about “The Patriot Way” anymore.
History has a tendency to romanticize the demise of legends. Take Harry Houdini: For years there were tall tales and legends about how the world’s greatest magician perished. Some said it happened on stage, as Houdini was finally unable to defy death in his Water Torture chamber. Others say he died in a flash, punched in the stomach by a fan who surprised him — taking Houdini at his word that blows to the abdomen wouldn’t hurt him.
