In what probably took waaaaaaaay to long to try, ESPN and Pat McAfee will test out an NFL RedZone-style broadcast during the Saturday night slate of college football games.
And yes, I know — y’all weirdly don’t like McAfee. We’ve heard you loud and clear. It’s a dumb take, but it’s yours and I respect it.
That being said, this is the smartest thing ESPN has done maybe ever? Granted, they’ve made some pretty dumb decisions over the years, so the bar isn’t high. But still — NFL RedZone is iconic and it was only a matter of time to test it out at the college level.

Wednesday night’s clash between the Clippers and Lakers provided some early-season sizzle to what figures to be a fierce Western Conference race. The Clippers had defeated their intra-city rivals in their past 11 matchups, but LeBron James seemed intent on snapping that losing streak.
James provided a highlight play midway through the second quarter. After losing his left shoe, he passed the ball up court and was slow to join the ensuing offensive possession. The Clippers didn’t account for James on defense since he was on the other end of the court.

Prior to going out and acquiring James Harden from Philadelphia, the Los Angeles Clippers were already championship contenders in the minds of many. Adding Harden to a roster with Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Russell Westbrook, and Ivica Zubac has turned them into a legitimate force.
On paper, that is.
Having too many cooks in the kitchen is a very real thing, and the walls can get tight in a hurry when Harden is the one being thrown into the mix. We’re talking about a player making $35 million this season who is now suiting up for his fourth different team since 2021.

Coaches around the Big Ten are putting pressure on conference commissioner Tony Petitti to punish Michigan in the wake of the investigation into the school for potential sign-stealing, according to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
On a 90-minute league-wide conference call on Wednesday, a “vast majority” of coaches in the Big Ten voiced their frustrations with the investigation. Harbaugh was present on the call for 60 of the 90 minutes, according to Thamel.

With so many intriguing NFL games on the Week 9 slate, I nearly fell into the trap of favoring over bets this week.
Sure, a few of them will likely turn into shootouts, such as Dolphins vs. Chiefs in Germany. But Bengals vs. Bills could easily turn into a slow, physical battle between two evenly matched teams.
After another week of finishing 3–2, I’m going to stick to my method of more under bets, especially with scoring being down this season.
I don’t like finishing 3–2, which has been the case the past two weeks, but I’m still on the winning side.

The Diamondbacks’ thrilling, improbable postseason run ended Wednesday night with a 5–0 loss to the Rangers in Game 5 of the World Series.
Arizona got strong starting pitching throughout the series, but ultimately couldn’t match Texas’s timely hitting despite manager Torey Lovullo’s best attempts to find a solution.
The effort was emotionally draining for Lovullo, which he expressed in a weirdly candid fashion to reporters after the Game 5 loss. Reporters may never get a response like this from a manager during the World Series ever again.

Would you believe me if I told you the entire Big Ten West has an offense problem?
Well, buckle up and sit down because class is in session for OutKick readers.
Iowa recently announced Brian Ferentz won’t return next season as OC, and it was an obvious move for the team to make. It was also likely inevitable because his contract required the team to average 25 points per game and earn seven wins.
I stumbled across a tweet from Bud Elliott that pointed out not a single team in the Big Ten West is averaging the required 25 points needed for Ferentz to keep his job.

It took Antonio Pierce about 45 seconds to win his first press conference as the Las Vegas Raiders new interim coach.
“It’s a new day, it’s a new chapter, it’s a new era, it’s a new mindset,” Pierce said unprompted Wednesday afternoon. “What is that mindset? It’s that of the Raider pride, the commitment to excellence, and making sure our alumni, our fan base, and Raider Nation are proud of what they see on the field.

The Bank of England held interest rates at a 15-year peak as it kept up its fight against the highest inflation among the world’s big rich economies, and it stressed that it did not expect to cut them any time soon. Despite publishing forecasts which now show the British economy now skirting close to a recession and flat-lining in the coming years, the BoE held Bank Rate at 5.25% for the second meeting in a row after 14 back-to-back increases.
