Peppers’ new deal is a steal for the Patriots.
Finding the right schematic home for your talents cannot be underestimated as a precursor for success in the NFL. There are far too many examples in pro football history of players winding up in the wrong places with the wrong coaches, and their base attributes dissipate and disappear as a result.
But some of those players can be saved along the way with a “right place/right time” scenario with the right coach, who picks the player out of the Danger Zone and makes his future a far happier place to be.

We knew Jim Harbaugh was going to be a blast at Los Angeles Chargers training camp
Jim Harbaugh has been known for attacking each day with an “enthusiasm unknown to mankind.”
Apparently at Los Angeles Chargers training camp, that enthusiasm unknown to mankind includes stealing some quarterback reps from Justin Herbert.
The NFL Network was at the Chargers’ training camp this weekend for part of the league’s “Back Together Weekend” coverage of practices from coast to coast.

The Chicago Bears play their first preseason game in the Hall of Fame game on Thursday and will name starters for that game on Tuesday. And if coach Matt Eberflus doesn’t name rookie quarterback Caleb Williams the starting quarterback, there should be an investigation.
Because Williams has been the team’s starter since he arrived as the No. 1 overall selection. He’s taking all the first-team snaps in practice. Eberflus has named him the starter for the regular season.

Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner have forged one of the most potent pairings in the WNBA while with the Connecticut Sun. Next up? Finishing up their wedding planning.
Winning in basketball is defined by talent, schemes, and the personalities that a game so intimate allows to shine through. But perhaps the most important ingredient in the recipe of competitive success is time. None can control it, but it has a consistent ripple of impact, touching the environment and the individuals within it, second by second.

Dwyane Wade was on the call for the U.S. men’s basketball team’s opening game in the Olympics against Serbia on Sunday and simply could not stop making pronoun jokes on the broadcast.
The former NBA star made his first pronoun-related comment early in the first half of the contest before mentioning pronouns on two other occasions.
“Y’all know his pronouns – he/him!” Wade said when talking about LeBron James early in the game. Then, after a made layup by James in the third quarter, Wade said “America, you know him as LeBron James, I know him personally.

WNBA hoops is really fun. Always has been.
This must be what it sounds like to win gracefully. Silence, save for the moments when record-setting attendance applauds the most popular WNBA season yet.
I, and many other dudes like me, would not handle victory this well. I’d be launching smug GIFs at anyone who once went out of their way to harp on the WNBA, heaping comeuppance posts at Bill Simmons and Clay Travis’ Twitter accounts every time raving news of the WNBA’s success hit (had they not blocked me already).
