The San Antonio Spurs have defeated the New York Knicks 115-111 in Game 3 of the NBA Finals. This Spurs win spoiled the 27 year party at Madison Square Garden. The series is now a 2-1 lead for the Knicks. The Spurs winning tonight guarantees another game in San Antonio. 
The Spurs were able to survive the almost must win scenario. Had the Knicks won, Friday’s game would have been an elimination game.

Alex Smith thinks it’s only a matter of time before San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan wins a championship
The former 49ers quarterback and current ESPN analyst drew a direct comparison between Shanahan and Hall of Fame coach Andy Reid — and suggested a championship run for the 49ers head coach is inevitable.

The NBA Finals will return to Madison Square Garden for the first time in nearly three decades when the Knicks host the Spurs on Monday night.
New York will bring a 2-0 lead and 13-game winning streak into Game 3 of the championship series. The Knicks are ready to play in front of one of the most electric crowds in recent memory and take another step toward the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

Aaron Boone was working out of his office at Yankee Stadium when pitching coach Matt Blake relayed the biggest news of the Bombers’ offseason.
“Cody’s back,” Blake told Boone and staffer Ryan McLaughlin, who was also on the scene.
Boone responded with excitement, as the Yankees had come to terms with a player who had posted a 125 wRC+ and a 4.9 fWAR for them in 2025.
Blake, of course, was referring to Cody Bellinger, whose prolonged free agency unofficially came to an end on Jan. 21.

On the verge of a loss after giving up a big lead, Caitlin Clark hit a dagger. The Indiana Fever guard hit a big three in the final seconds of the game to pull the Fever ahead after a late comeback from the Washington Mystics.
Indiana was up by as many as 16 points before Washington started to come back in the fourth quarter. The Mystics finally took the 74-73 lead with less than a minute remaining in the game, off a layup from Shakira Austin.
Clark then had a chance to give the Fever the lead with a pair of free throws, but uncharacteristically missed both.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) — Breanna Stewart scored 28 points, including a key putback with 24.8 seconds left, Han Xu had 14 points in her first career WNBA start, and the New York Liberty beat the Connecticut Sun 89-80 on Monday night.
Xu started in place of Jonquel Jones, who was a late scratch because of an illness. Jones, who spent six years with the Sun before coming to New York in 2023, had her No. 35 jersey retired by Connecticut before the game.
Connecticut got within 85-80 with 45.9 seconds remaining — the closest the Sun had been in the fourth quarter.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Caitlin Clark’s 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds left gave the Indiana Fever a 78-76 victory over the Washington Mystics on Monday night.
Washington rallied from a 17-point deficit and led by one after Sonia Citron’s two free throws with 4.3 seconds remaining, but after a timeout, Clark caught a crosscourt pass and was all alone after Cotie McMahon went for the steal and missed.

Silver spoke just before the start of game three of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden, where the Finals had not been played since 1999 and where the Knicks, leading the series 2-0 and on a 14-game playoff win streak, seek their first NBA crown since 1973.

Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour has made his decision on which goalie will start Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final on Tuesday, June 9.
But he’s not revealing whether Frederik Andersen or Brandon Bussi will play against the Vegas Golden Knights.
“It’s the only suspenseful thing around here that I have to hold onto,” he told reporters on Monday, June 8. “It seems to have taken a life of its own, so I kind of enjoy it.”
Andersen, who has started every playoff game, didn’t take part in practice on Monday.

Ten U.S. Open final qualifiers are being contested across the U.S. and Canada for a chance to compete in the 126th U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York, June 18-21.
Golf Channel will have wall-to-wall coverage, beginning at noon ET and then running from 4 p.m. to midnight.
Three qualifiers have already been contested.

President Donald Trump will plans to attend Monday’s Game 3 between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs, the first time a sitting U.S. president attended an NBA game since Barack Obama did so when the Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the Chicago Bulls, per BBC.
Trump said he’s “been a Knicks fan for a long time,” when he accepted Knicks owner James Dolan’s invitation, adding “I’m also a Jim Dolan fan,” according to The Hill.
The occasion will be the first time a sitting U.S. president attends an NBA Finals.
