Diego Simeone pays emotional tribute to departing Antoine Griezmann ahead of Barcelona tie
Last month, it was confirmed that Antoine Griezmann will be leaving Atletico Madrid at the end of the season. The 35-year-old has agreed terms with MLS side Orlando City, whom he will join once the transfer window opens in the summer.
It means that Griezmann only has a handful of matches left in the Rojiblanco of Atleti, with the first of those coming on Wednesday when they face Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.
Rajasthan Royals continued their dominant run in the Indian Premier League 2026, defeating Mumbai Indians by 27 runs in a rain-curtailed 11-over-a-side clash at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Tuesday.
Leading the charge was Yashasvi Jaiswal, who smashed a scintillating unbeaten 77 off 32 balls, laced with 10 fours and four sixes. He shared a blistering 80-run opening stand with teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who hammered 39 off just 14 deliveries. The pair laid the foundation for Rajasthan’s imposing total of 150/3, which ultimately proved too much for Mumbai.

Iowa athletics director Beth Goetz confirmed to the Des Moines Register that it is working on a contract extension with head men’s basketball coach Ben McCollum.
McCollum just led Iowa to a 24-win season and to its first Elite Eight appearance since 1987.
“Ben and I have been in close contact throughout the (NCAA) tournament and feel like we’re certainly going to make some adjustments to his agreement,” Goetz said. “And so, we’ll have that done here soon and feel really good about where we are.

The Arizona Diamondbacks dropped the series opener to the New York Mets on Tuesday, falling 4-3 in extra innings after squandering a late lead. New York (7-4) won its fourth straight game and improved to 2-2 in extra innings already this season.
Mauricio, recalled Monday from Triple-A Syracuse when slugger Juan Soto was placed on the injured list, laced an 0-2 pitch from Paul Sewald (0-2) over the head of right fielder Corbin Carroll to drive in automatic runner Francisco Lindor from third base with one out.

The Los Angeles Lakers had a big loss on their roster after Austin Reaves went down. This meant that the Dallas Mavericks had to take care of the guard who was in pain.

IOWA CITY — Iowa is working with men’s basketball head coach Ben McCollum on a contract extension, director of athletics Beth Goetz said April 7.
McCollum, who signed a six-year contract with Iowa in 2025, had a successful first season at the helm, guiding the Hawkeyes to the program’s first Elite Eight appearance since 1987.

In the match between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI), the young batting prodigy took on Bumrah in the second over of the innings, hitting two sixes in the space of four deliveries. The game had already been shortened to 11 overs per side due to rain, adding more weight to every over.
The contest between Bumrah and Sooryavanshi had been seen as a key moment before the match.

A couple of WWE superstars had a nasty, unscripted moment on Monday night’s edition of Raw that ended with a couple of big ol’ goose eggs.
Liv Morgan is slated to take on WWE Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer later this month at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.
Morgan — who earned the match thanks to coming out on top in this year’s Royal Rumble — and Vacquer have been in an animating feud for weeks to build up the match.
This has included a few instances of one attacking the other.

Bayern Munich are Champions League winners! Wait that wasn’t the final? Well it sure felt like it.
The Los Angeles Angels returned outfielder Mike Trout to the lineup for Tuesday’s game after he missed the first game of the series.
A fastball struck Trout in the hand in the Angels’ game against the Seattle Mariners on Sunday, and promptly left the game. He missed Monday’s series opener—a win against the Atlanta Braves—entirely, but seems to be good to go on his bobblehead night Tuesday.
Trout has struggled with injuries over the past several seasons, including 2025 despite playing 130 games.

A baseball legend recently revealed the lengths to which the Los Angeles Dodgers will go to get the most from their stars.
Speaking with Abriendo Sports, Baseball Hall of Famer David Ortiz said when the New York Yankees were in town to play the Dodgers, Mark Walter gave Big Papi, Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter a tour to show “what we’ve done around the stadium.”
