OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Jamaree Bouyea had career highs of 27 points and nine assists, Ryan Dunn added 20 points and 11 rebounds, and the Phoenix Suns routed the Oklahoma City Thunder 135-103 on Sunday night in a meaningless regular-season finale for both teams.
Koby Brea added 20 points for Phoenix (45-37), which was locked into seventh place in the Western Conference and did not play any starters. The Suns will face either Portland or the Los Angeles Clippers in a play-in game Tuesday night.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — LeBron James had 18 points, six assists and four rebounds in the first half, and the Los Angeles Lakers tuned up for the postseason with a 131-107 win over the Utah Jazz on Sunday night.
Rui Hachimura and Deandre Ayton each had 22 points and 10 assists. James and Luke Kennard were held out of the second half as a precautionary measure, and the Lakers closed the regular season on a three-game winning streak. They finished fourth in the Western Conference and will face Houston in the first round of the playoffs.

Despite not trying very hard on Sunday, the Denver Nuggets have secured the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference playoffs over the Los Angeles Lakers.
A Nuggets team resting four of its five starters on the final day of the NBA regular season beat a shorthanded San Antonio Spurs roster playing without Victor Wembanyama on Sunday, 128-118.
The win locked up the No. 3 seed in the West for the Spurs and ensured that the Los Angeles Lakers would end up the No. 4 seed.
The Lakers likewise secured a win with a 131-107 defeat of the Utah Jazz and had a shot at moving back into the 3 slot on Sunday.
BOSTON (AP) — Baylor Scheierman scored a career-high 30 points, Luka Garza added 27, including a key 3-pointer with 31.6 seconds left, and the Boston Celtics’ reserves defeated Orlando 113-108 on Sunday night, sending the Magic into a road play-in tournament game.
Ron Harper Jr. had a career-best 27 points for Boston, and Garza grabbed 12 rebounds.
Paolo Banchero led Orlando with 23 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds, and Jalen Suggs scored 23 points.
The Magic (45-37) had won five straight and seemed ready to lock up a home game as the Eastern Conference’s No. 7 seed before the loss.

Tainá Maranhão on Brazil form: “Confidence is the base of my game”
Tainá Maranhão has been called up by coach Arthur Elias four times and has already made seven appearances and scored two goals for the Brazilian National Team. In an exclusive interview with CBF TV, she spoke about the confidence the coach has placed in her and said that it is the foundation of her game.
“I feel fulfilled and very happy. The foundation of my game is confidence, so when I have people by my side who encourage me, tell me to go for it, to play freely, that makes all the difference.
What are we all going to talk about next year? That was the question Rory McIlroy asked inside the media center at Augusta National a year ago after finally sliding on the green jacket. The question was purely sarcastic, but not exactly a joke.
For 10 straight Aprils, the golf world as a whole, including McIlroy himself, had obsessed over whether the Northern Irishman would ever win The Masters to complete the career grand slam.

After weeks of speculation, it’s official: Austin Rapp is returning to the Wisconsin Badgers for his junior season.
Rapp was a key piece for the Badgers as a sophomore, making 12 starts and averaging 23.2 minutes a game. He had 9.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists a contest this past season, while shooting 41.

Brazil’s U-17 National Team already knows who its opponent will be in the South American Championship semifinal. The team coached by Carlos Eduardo Patetuci will face Colombia, which finished second in Group A after defeating Paraguay 2-0 this Sunday (12) at Carfem, in Ypané.
In Group B, Brazil finished in first place with 12 points from four matches.

Bo Bichette was hurt at the end of last season with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Apparently, at least one report indicates that the injury problem hasn’t gone away with the New York Mets.
Doc Rivers is departing as the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, sources told ESPN on Sunday.
Much like the LSU Baseball team, I’m showing up to Sunday a little later than you would have hoped.
The Tigers (22-15, 6-9) lost a game they really needed to have against Ole Miss (26-11, 8-7) to complete the humiliating weekend sweep 8-7 Sunday at Swayze Field. The Tigers very nearly pulled off a second consecutive improbable Sunday comeback, but they couldn’t quite get it done.
Quite literally all of LSU’s offensive production came in the seventh inning.
Rory McIlroy reminded everyone of two things Sunday: he is one of the best golfers of all-time and the New York Jets are downright awful.
Thanks to a -12 performance, the native of North Ireland won his second consecutive green jacket, becoming just the fourth golfer to do so. The only other golfers to accomplish that feat are Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods.
Talk about insane. Winning The Masters is arguably one of the hardest things to do in sports, much less doing it in back-to-back years.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Tanner Murray hit his first major league home run, Colson Montgomery also connected and the Chicago White Sox outlasted the Kansas City Royals 6-5 on Sunday after the first pitch was pushed back 3 hours because of rain.
Dustin Harris led off the seventh inning with a pinch-hit double and scored the tiebreaking run for the White Sox on a wild pitch by John Schreiber (0-2).
Chicago equaled a club record by using nine pitchers in a nine-inning game. That mark was set against Cleveland on Sept. 14, 1997.
The Knicks’ playoff opponent is officially set.

Atlanta played the Knicks tough during their regular season matchups.
While New York took the series 2-1, the two victories were three point games and the loss was by 12.
The latest meeting was earlier this week, when New York hung on to end the Hawks’ 13-game home winning streak.
This will be the fourth time that they face-off in the playoffs.

The NBA is about to take center stage, with new and old faces set to star in the playoffs. While every team has just one game left in the regular season, there is still much to be determined.
In the Eastern Conference, seeds Nos. 1-4 are locked up, as the Detroit Pistons will be the top seed in the playoffs.
Projected first-round NFL draft pick Rueben Bain Jr. was involved in a 2024 vehicular crash in Miami that led to a passenger’s death, according to a police report obtained by Oliver Connolly of the newsletter The Read Optional.
The Miami edge rusher was cited in March 2024 for careless driving after causing a crash that led to the incapacitation of a 22-year-old woman, who later died after spending three months in a coma.
Bain, who spent the past three seasons at Miami, is projected to go 10th overall in Yahoo Sports’ most recent mock draft.
The Milwaukee Bucks are moving forward without head coach Doc Rivers. The team reportedly split with Rivers on Sundayafter going 32-50during a miserable 2025-26 NBA season, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The decision ends Rivers’ two-and-a-half seasons with the team. Rivers had one final season left on his initial contract with the Bucks.
Expectations were exceptionally high when Rivers was hired as the team’s replacement for Adrian Griffin, who was fired during the 2023-24 NBA season despite leading the team to a 30-13 record.
