Wiegman reveals simple way Lionesses bested World Cup holders Spain
In the age of set pieces, it was from a corner that Lauren Hemp volleyed home the Lionesses’ winner against world champions Spain in record time this evening – unlike some of her peers, Sarina Wiegman’s methodology was simple.
“Train”, she said.
England put themselves in strong contention to qualify automatically for the Women’s World Cup just over a year from now, with their quickest goal ever at Wembley earning a 1-0 win in a repeat of the finals at the previous tournament and Euro 2025.
Tatsuya Imai’s career with the Houston Astros has so far consisted of a bad start, a good start and a start that landed him on the 15-day IL with arm fatigue. That might not be what the Astros had in mind when they guaranteed him $54 million out of Japan.
Now sidelined until at least late April, the right-hander spoke to reporters via interpreter on Tuesday and has some rather interesting things to say when discussing his arm fatigue. Per The Athletic’s Chandler Rome, Imai admitted having trouble adjusting to the American lifestyle in baseball and outside of baseball.
Rico Verhoeven believes he’s got what it takes to do what no fighter has been able to do before – knockout all-time great Oleksandr Usyk.
The two heavyweights clash in a crossover superfight, as this boxing championship bout pits Verhoeven, a former GLORY kickboxing champion, against Usyk, the unified heavyweight champion. Despite Verhoeven (1-0) not having much experience in boxing, all while going up against a generational talent, the Dutch fighter is confident he’s got what it takes to put the lights out on Usyk (24-0).

You’ve got to figure that before any NHL player signs a contract — especially a longer-term one with a new team — they comb through it meticulously and would never accidentally sign one in a drunken stupor.
Well, you’d be wrong, because it turns out it happened to Hockey Hall of Famer Chris Pronger when he inked a five-year deal with the Edmonton Oilers.
Pronger — who spent 18 years in the NHL as one of the league’s most fearsome defenders — has a new book coming out titled “Earned,” and an excerpt of it was published by The Athletic this week.
Paddy Donovan’s quest for a third crack at Lewis Crocker will pit him against veteran spoiler Karen Chukhadzhian on May 15th in Mannheim, Germany.
Donovan (14-2, 11 KO) sits winless since , going 0-1-1 against Crocker in their two meetings. The first saw Donovan dominate the Belfast native in hostile territory, only to be disqualified for hitting after a bell that nobody in the ring was able to hear. The next time around, he hit the deck twice but appeared to outpoint Crocker, but wound up on the wrong end of a split decision.
For the fifth time in nine years, the New York Giants own a top-five pick in the NFL draft, and for the third time in five years, general manager Joe Schoen will be the one to hand in the draft card.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick: ‘Over the two games, we deserved to be in the semi-final’

There is a very real concern that there won’t be a Major League Baseball season in 2027. Why? Because the collective bargaining agreement between the league and the MLB Players Association expires in December. And multiple reports have suggested that the league’s owners are intent on adding a salary cap system to reduce their costs and increase franchise values.
The players have viewed a salary cap as a line in the sand, something they will not accept as it tamps down on potential earnings by artificially limiting an open market.

There’s no question that it is much harder — and much more expensive — to watch sports, and that’s a problem that NTT IndyCar Series owner Roger Penske is addressing with FCC Chairman Brendan Carr.
More and more sports, leagues, and series are cutting deals that don’t just take them off of broadcast networks, it takes them off of linear TV completely.
While it’s often argued that this is the way of the future, it’s also, in most cases, not in fans’ best interest.
Sherrone Moore’s legal saga ended Tuesday with no jail time.

Moore had faced up to six months behind bars, but Judge J. Cedric Simpson opted for probation, citing his lack of a prior criminal record.
