Everything changed when Victor Wembanyama’s right elbow caught Karl-Anthony Towns’ chin in Game 4. The NBA Finals were never the same.
Wembanyama’s dangerous elbow during a swim move at the 9:27 mark of the third quarter resulted in a Flagrant 1 penalty and two trips to the free-throw line for Towns with possession. It was a costly play in the immediate term, but the damage to the Spurs’ title chances has yet to be seen.
More importantly, the play pushed Wembanyama to the brink of suspension. 
Wembanyama’s emotions and violent physicality have gotten him in trouble.

The New York Mets expect to get their starting shortstop back in the lineup within the next couple of weeks.
Francisco Lindor faced live pitching and played two innings at shortstop during a simulated game on Friday. Based on that progress, Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns told reporters that he expects Lindor to rejoin the everyday lineup by the end of June.
Lindor, 32, took at-bats against a pitcher from the Mets’ high Single-A Brooklyn affiliate. The Mets did not share the results of those at-bats, but did say that Lindor did not run the bases on contact.

According to ESPN insiders Adam Schefter, the Chiefs and Mahomes agreed to a reworked contract extension through the 2033 season worth $504.75 million total — the first NFL deal ever valued at more than half a billion dollars.

The Ohio State basketball schedule continues to take shape for this coming season with news of a home-and-home series with an SEC school on Friday. According to Rocco Miller of The Field of 68, the Buckeyes and Commodores have agreed to play over the next two seasons, with the game this year taking place in Columbus on Nov. 24.
Ohio State and Vanderbilt have only played each other twice throughout history, with Vandy getting the best of the Buckeyes both in 1988 and 1989. In other words, it’s been a very long time since the two have done battle.

The Sesame Street character appeared on the FOX broadcast ahead of the United States‘ opening match against Paraguay on Friday, June 12 with Cookie Monster to talk all things World Cup with Charissa Thompson.
Elmo and Cookie Monster are guest correspondents for the tournament and Thompson asked Elmo how he’s feeling.

CHICAGO (AP) — Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani is day to day with left knee inflammation.
Ohtani was out of the starting lineup for Friday night’s series opener at the Chicago White Sox. But manager Dave Roberts said Ohtani could play this weekend and remains in line to make his next scheduled start on the mound on Wednesday.
Ohtani was lifted for a pinch hitter in the seventh inning of Thursday night’s 8-6 win at Pittsburgh.
“He’s doing fine today,” Roberts said before Friday’s matchup with the White Sox. “I think that we got some pictures.

The Yankees skipper confirmed that Max Fried underwent more imaging recently and there’s reason to be optimistic for the southpaw.

Tom Heath Field was buzzing all week as young girls and longtime community members came out to watch the OKC Spark make its debut in a professional softball league.
