STORRS – Two years ago, the St. Paul softball team ran into North Branford in the Class S state tournament quarterfinals and won.
Last year, the two teams met again, this time at UConn for the Class S championship. North Branford won.
Saturday night the game at the Class S state final, as St. Paul coach Gary Hovhanessian put it, was “the rubber match” – once again against North Branford. No. 1 St. Paul put on a hitting display, batting around in the sixth inning and scoring six runs, and the Falcons won their first softball title, 11-3, at UConn’s Burrill Family Field.

The New York Knicks have finally ended their 63-year championship drought with their victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
The Knicks beat the Atlanta Hawks, the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Cleveland Cavaliers to advance to the NBA Finals.
They were significant underdogs against the San Antonio Spurs, but they defeated the favourites in just five games.
Jalen Brunson scored 45 points as the Knicks won 94-90 in Game 5 in San Antonio to clinch the title.
Knicks fans have certainly lived up to their reputation in the hours since winning the NBA Championship.

SAN ANTONIO — As Jalen Brunson wended his way through the bowels of Frost Bank Center in the wee hours of Sunday morning, he did so laden with gold. Everywhere he went — from interview to interview, from embrace to embrace, from moment to celebratory moment — the New York Knicks captain toted the Larry O’Brien Championship trophy and the Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP trophy that he’d just won.
