While you were busy taking in all the NFL playoff action on Sunday, the Pittsburgh Panthers women’s basketball team was busy putting together a record-tying comeback.
The Panthers were hosting the SMU Mustangs in what was supposed to be a relatively non-newsworthy matchup between two mid-tier teams. That theory was only enforced when the Mustangs took a 46-14 lead late in the second quarter and went into halftime with a 49-18 lead.
Head coach Tori Verdi’s halftime message was simple: keep fighting.

In his final game of the season, George Pickens delivered the ultimate ‘George Pickens’ moment of the season.
Pittsburgh Steelers fans are trying to decipher Pickens’s comments after the team lost to the Baltimore Ravens on Wild Card weekend.
Pickens is a firecracker on the team, working as the Steelers offense’s top wideout while catching attention for his off-the-field behavior.
After Saturday’s 28-14 loss to Baltimore, Pickens (guilty of “diva behavior”) was asked about the future of the Steelers offense.

Nick Taylor defeated Nico Echavarria in a playoff at the Sony Open in Hawaii, but he needed a miracle to get there in the first place.
From this point forward, Nick Taylor should only be called ‘Mr. Playoff.’
The Canadian won the Sony Open in Hawaii on the second playoff hole over Nico Echavarria, giving him the fifth PGA Tour victory of his career.
But how he got to extra holes was quite remarkable in the first place.
On the one hand, in this playoff game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers, you had one team personified by A.J. Brown – sitting on the sideline, not getting many catches or even targets, remaining composed and calm.
He was actually reading a book on the sideline.
Brown was reading Inner Excellence by Jim Murphy.
“It gives me such a peace,” Brown said after the game. “That’s a book I bring every single game. My teammates call it a recipe. That’s the first time I heard y’all got me on camera.

South Carolina’s early season hiccup against UCLA looks like a distant memory at the start of SEC play, especially after being a ranked Texas team.
Look at the following stat comparison and then decide which team you think came away with the victory:
If you weren’t reading an article with this kind of introduction, you’d likely choose Team A. That level of offensive rebounds is likely to turn into second chance points, turnovers, and steals, turn into extra possessions and those extra possession turn into extra shots.

Just when you think you’ve seen it all in the NFL, something happens that makes you think: “What the hell was that?”
Usually, it’s a play on the field. In this case, it was something that happened on the Philadelphia Eagles’ sideline during the team’s Wild Card playoff game against the Green Bay Packers.
FOX cameras cut to A.J. Brown, the Eagles star wide receiver, sitting on the bench. Was he looking at the tablet, breaking down the Packers’ defensive scheme? No, Brown was reading a book.
Yes, you read that correctly. A.J.
The Packers kept it close, but the Eagles never relinquished their early lead.
Nine-time NFL Pro Bowl pass rusher Khalil Mack is uncertain about his future in the league after a crushing loss Saturday.
The Los Angeles Chargers failed to capitalize on their regular-season resurgence in Jim Harbaugh’s first year as Bolts head coach.
LA fell to the Houston Texans on Saturday, 32-12. And after 11 seasons in a dominant career, Mack is opening up to possibly hanging ’em up.
“Man, it’s a lot of different thoughts in my head right now,” Mack said on Saturday.

What would the first weekend of the NFL playoffs be without a controversial call by referees? The Green Bay Packers fumbled the opening kickoff against the Philadelphia Eagles and refs ruled that the Eagles recovered the fumble.
However, replay appeared to show that Packers’ returner Keisan Nixon, who fumbled the ball, recovered it before Eagles players wrestled the ball away from him.
Despite that, referee Brad Allen ruled that, after replay review, the call on the field of the Philadelphia recovery stood.
Mark Pope played for the University of Kentucky and was a team captain for the Wildcats during their national championship-winning season in 1996. In other words, Pope understands what it means to play for Kentucky, but playing for the Wildcats and coaching the Wildcats are two very different assignments.
Some members of Big Blue Nation were a bit skeptical about Pope being hired as head coach, to put it mildly after John Calipari bolted for the Arkansas gig.

You know it’s a good day for your team when officials blow an obvious call and come over to your bench and seemingly apologize for their error. That’s what happened to the Buffalo Bills in their Wild Card playoff game Sunday against the Denver Broncos.
In the third quarter, the back judge was looking away when Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid was obviously held in the end zone.
The non-call cost the Bills a first down just outside the goal line. It also affected the Bills in that Josh Allen was unable to throw an easy TD pass to Kincaid.

The Houston Texans obliterated the Los Angeles Chargers in Saturday’s NFL Wild Card playoff game and a big reason was LA quarterback Justin Herbert.
Herbert, who threw only three interceptions throughout the regular season, inexplicably tossed four picks – including one returned for a touchdown – against Houston, helping to end the Chargers’ season.
Naturally, Herbert is under fire for the terrible performance. Not enough for Robert Griffin III’s liking, though.
RGIII thinks Herbert won’t get enough criticism because, you guessed it, Herbert is white.
