The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a big loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday. It was one of the biggest blowout losses of the Lakers‘ 2025-26 campaign, but it became even worse with Luka Doncic’s hamstring injury.

In the third quarter of the Thunder blowing out the Lakers by more than 30, Luka Doncic tried to drive on Jalen Williams, pulled up sharply for what looked to be a jumper, but then instantly dropped the ball, grabbing his hamstring in pain. After being on the ground for a minute, he limped directly to the locker room under his own power, but was very emotional about the injury.

SEATTLE (AP) — Washington Huskies women’s basketball coach Tina Langley agreed to a contract extension that runs through the 2031-32 season, athletic director Pat Chun announced Thursday.
Langley, 52, has spent the last five seasons as Washington’s head coach, going 83-71 overall with steady improvement each year. In Langley’s first season, the Huskies went 7-16, with a 2-12 record in Pac-12 play.
Last season, Washington went 22-11, winning its most games under Langley while qualifying for its second NCAA Tournament.

One of the best players on the Kansas Jayhawks roster is moving on. Where he is moving to is up in the air, at the moment, though.
On Thursday night, it was announced that sophomore Flory Bidunga is expected to declare for the 2026 NBA Draft. However, Bidunga plans to maintain his college eligibility, and should he return to school, he plans to enter the transfer portal.
The 6-foot-10, 220-pound forward has played in Lawrence for two seasons, breaking out this past year with a 13.3 point-per-game average, while adding 9.0 rebounds per game.

Flory Bidunga will enter the transfer portal and explore his NBA draft potential, according to a report from ESPN.
The 2024 Indiana Mr. Basketball from Kokomo was named the Big 12 defensive player of the year last season at Kansas as he averaged 13.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.6 blocked shots per game. Bidunga was named first team All-Big 12 as a sophomore.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Bidunga “intends to declare for the NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility. He also intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal, as he’s keeping open the option to return to college.

DALLAS (AP) — Jake Oettinger made 22 saves for his third shutout of the season in a matchup of Team USA Olympic goaltenders and rookie Arttu Hyry had a goal in his first multipoint NHL game as the Dallas Stars beat the Winnipeg Jets 3-0 on Thursday night.
Adam Erne also had a goal and an assist and Matt Duchene also scored for the Stars, who opened a five-game homestand that will close their home season. They are second in both the Central Division and the overall league standings, coming off a 1-2-1 road trip with only one regulation win in their previous 10 games.

After a four-year hockey career with Michigan State, Daniel Russell is moving on to the professional ranks. Russell has inked his first career professional contract, signing an ATO deal with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
An ATO amateur contract is a short-term agreement allowing amateur players to play for a professional team without losing their amateur status.
Russell finished his Michigan State career playing in 150 games, scoring 45 goals while adding 74 assists. He earned All-Big Ten honorable mention honors during the 2025-26 season.

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — Lauren Coughlin showed her familiarity with Shadow Creek by opening with a 5-under 67, putting her in a three-way tie for the lead Thursday with Nasa Hataoka and Women’s British Open champion Miyu Yamashita in the Aramco Championship.
Coughlin played 127 holes last year at Shadow Creek when the tournament was match play, with every match going at least the distance. She wound up as the runner-up to Madelene Sagstrom.

The Red Wings snapped a points tie in the chase for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Detroit has 88 points to 86 for the Flyers through 75 games, as both teams entered behind Columbus for eighth.
Kane’s Game 6 overtime goal helped Chicago beat the Flyers in 2010 for the Stanley Cup.
