Get off that seat, Anthony Richardson. You’re back in now.
Indianapolis Colts coach Shane Steichen announced to reporters on Wednesday what he told Richardson and Joe Flacco the day before, which is Richardson has regained the starting quarterback job.
And it is for the remainder of the season, per Steichen.
“He’s going to start this week, he’s going to start the rest of the season,” Steichen said
So the see-saw ride that has been the Indianapolis Colts starting quarterback job is apparently over.
Saner minds have prevailed.

Penei Sewell is playing at a superstar level for the Lions.
When teams start losing in games, they tend to lean on their best players to get them out of a rut. These guys are the ones you feed targets to, the ones you get the ball in their hands and you just let them cook.
The Lions did that, too. But their best player is a right tackle who craters everything in his way.
I’m sure you’ve heard by now—the Lions won a football game where Jared Goff threw five interceptions.
It’s been a rough baseball season for Fanatics — and this latest flub is just the cherry on top. The sports fan apparel company accidentally sold a large batch of Los Angeles Dodgers World Series T-shirts with the signatures of the Texas Rangers on the back.
Fans who purchased the shirts for nearly $40 apiece posted photos on social media showing the error. The blue T-shirt reads “2024 Los Angeles Dodgers – Champions” with a graphic of The Commissioner’s Trophy. Around the trophy are screen-printed signatures of Rangers’ players.

How Budda Baker is unlocking the Cardinals’ defense.
As good as the Arizona Cardinals’ offense has been recently, I’ve been impressed by their defense over the last three weeks.
Since week 8, they’re sixth in EPA per play allowed, eighth in Success Rate allowed. As their three safety defense begins to really get set, a player that has stood out every time I watch the Cardinals’ defense is safety Budda Baker.

Bronny’s G League assignment comes with the star treatment.
The Lakers drafting Bronny James was always going to become a sideshow for Los Angeles this season when it came to LeBron, but new information about Bronny’s G League assignment is beyond the pale.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reports that the Lakers rookie is getting phenomenal star treatment during his time with the South Bay Lakers of the G League.
“From my understanding he’s [Bronny] only going to play in the South Bay Lakers home games.

The Bears have released veteran guard Nate Davis, the team announced Wednesday, just three days after he was a late scratch for Sunday’s loss to the Patriots.
The Colts are going back to Anthony Richardson as their starting quarterback, starting with the game Sunday against the Jets.

The Giants’ disastrous Daniel Jones era is even more painful because of what could have been
Daniel Jones is the problem everyone but the New York Giants saw coming. Now in his sixth season, Jones is a bad quarterback masquerading as an elite one, purely by virtue of the desperate 4-year, $160M contract the Giants gave him in 2023. Now at 2-8, with fans watching this team get beaten by the Carolina Panthers and lapped in the NFC East by the rebuilding Commanders, there’s no doubt the Daniel Jones era is coming to an unceremonious end.
We’ve apparently reached the time in the NFL season when fans of some poor teams have given up on 2024 and are looking to 2025. That’s the reason All That and a Bag of NFL Mail this week addresses Daniel Jones, Mike McCarthy, Mike McDaniel, the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys.
Let’s get right to it:
Q. Armando, I smiled when I read on Tuesday in our local papers about the possibility the Giants would bench Daniel Jones because of his contract after I had read that at Outkick on Sunday.
So, Carnac the Magnificent, what’s going to happen next?

For the first time in the near 100-year history of the Ryder Cup, members of the U.S. team will be compensated for playing.
Money, money, money.
It has plagued golf for the last few years. But it has also been one of the biggest topics of discussion surrounding next year’s Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.

Portland Trail Blazers fans were concerned when Anfernee Simons left in the first quarter of Tuesday night’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. But no one was more upset than some random Midwestern guy who had the guard in a parlay.
The guy in question — who runs a gambling X account called “Michigan Made” — took to social media to air his frustrations to the team‘s official account.
“There goes everyones parlay msh injuries are ruining the fun of sports betting and rigging is at an all time high,” he wrote.
The 2024 season is starting to wind down, but the conference championship races are on fire.
Georgia and Tennessee are essentially in a SEC Championship Game and College Football Playoff elimination game in Athens in the biggest matchup of the weekend. Plus, two-loss Missouri is hanging on for dear life and will head to South Carolina to take on a hot Gamecocks team.
The Heisman race is wide open as well after Miami – led by quarterback Cam Ward – fell to Georgia Tech.

Nate Davis is gone, and Bears fans are happy.
The Chicago Bears signed offensive guard Nate Davis to a three-year, $30 million deal in free agency in 2023 to finally add some beef to a leaky offensive line. The signing almost immediately proved to be a disaster. Davis was in-and-out of practice with minor injuries from the time he signed the deal, preventing the Bears from forming the type of chemistry on the offensive line they desired. After a terrible first season with the team, Davis was somehow even less reliable this year.
Joel Embiid finally made his season debut for the Philadelphia 76ers in what was the team’s 10th game of the year, but instead of playing like a well-rested superstar, he played like a role player still asleep.
Embiid missed the team’s first nine games after sitting out the first six due to left knee management, which the league didn’t exactly buy given the team was fined $100k, and then missed three more games after being suspended for shoving a columnist after a loss to Memphis earlier in the month.
QB Caleb Williams is among some of the most alarming big-name performers around the league heading into Week 11 of the 2024 season.

Nobody has exploded more than this young talent at Texas.
When it comes to freshmen in college basketball, arguably nobody has exploded more than Texas Longhorns five-star Tre Johnson, who has looked like the real deal through the first week of the season.
Johnson, a top-five recruit in the 2024 class, has immediately taken over a starting spot in head coach Rodney Terry’s lineup, playing a team-high 39 minutes in Texas’s 80-72 loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the season opener.
Detroit has a complete team and might be the most dangerous group to face in January, especially at Ford Field. But that doesn’t mean the Lions can’t lose.

Erik Spoelstra pulled a Chris Webber in Heat loss, and Jalen Rose looked like he saw a ghost.
The Miami Heat and Detroit Pistons played a thriller to open up NBA Cup play on Wednesday night. Detroit led by 10 points with under four minutes left, but Tyler Herro hit three straight three-pointers to close the fourth quarter and help force overtime. In OT, Herro put the Heat up with a leaning bucket to give him 40 points on the night. That’s when things got weird.
The Pistons had 1.8 seconds left and trailed by two in OT after Herro’s make.

Her opening tee shot almost struck some fans, as hundreds of people lined the ropes to watch her play on Wednesday.

Skenes came in with big expectations and surpassed all of them.
It’s hard to put into words how much one player could mean to a sports franchise. Patrick Mahomes to the Kansas City Chiefs, Steph Curry to the Golden State Warriors, Sidney Crosby to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
In the same city as Crosby as past greats like Mario Lemieux, Jaromir Jagr, Joe Greene, Franco Harris, and Ben Roethlisberger, Paul Skenes is the most impactful Pittsburgh Pirates player in over a decade.
Skenes is an anomaly in more ways than one. The 2023 No.
With New York’s star QB showing his age, the Jets’ road to 3-7 has been marked by struggle and silence.
Caitlin Clark is teeing it up in the pro-am at The Annika, an LPGA event in Florida, on Wednesday and quickly reminded the world that she’s a professional basketball player and not a professional golfer with a legitimately dangerous tee shot early in her round.
Clark has talked about her love of golf in the past and has played the game for years, but playing in front of fans is far different from a casual round with your friends. On top of that, Clark was paired with LPGA legend and host of the event, Annika Sorenstam, as well as World No. 1 Nelly Korda.
