The Arizona Cardinals will face the San Francisco 49ers this weekend, but there is news about their Week 4 opponent, the New York Giants. Their game against the Giants potentially got easier because starting quarterback Jaxson Dart will not play.
He suffered a knee injury in the Giants’ 28-6 loss to the LA Rams on Monday night and needs surgery. He will miss the rest of the regular season.
That means Jameis Winston will get the start at quarterback.
When the schedule came out in May, the Cardinals were seven-point underdogs in the game.

A football club has been granted a new 50-year lease for its stadium and training ground.
National League side Boreham Wood FC will hold a single lease covering Meadow Park, which is also used by Arsenal Women, and an adjacent training pitch.
The Hertfordshire club currently holds separate leases for both, which will be surrendered and replaced by the new agreement that covers the whole site.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Donovan Walton hit a three-run homer and rookie Henry Bolte had his first four-hit game to help the Athletics beat the Los Angeles Angels 7-3 on Wednesday night.
Lawrence Butler had an RBI single and Walton hit his ninth home run, a two-out shot off rookie Walbert Ureña (9-11) for a 4-0 lead in the first inning.
Bolte went 4 for 5, scored two runs and had an RBI double in the second that put the Athletics (63-95) up 5-0.
Mike Trout and Vaughn Grissom hit back-to-back homers off Jeffrey Springs in the fourth to make it 5-2.

The Orlando Magic have signed free agent forward Kevin Knox II, the team announced Thursday.
Knox, a 6-foot-8, 215-pound forward, was originally selected by the New York Knicks with the ninth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
Prior to entering the NBA, Knox played one season at the University of Kentucky during the 2017-18 campaign. He started all 37 games as a freshman, averaging 15.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. Knox was named the 2017-18 Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the Year, while also earning All-SEC First Team and SEC All-Freshman Team honors.

A retooled Los Angeles Lakers squad is gearing up for the 2026-27 season, and on Wednesday, their primary broadcaster rolled out the coverage plan.

Yankees’ slugger Aaron Judge told ESPN on Wednesday that he intends to be ready for Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series at Yankee Stadium next Tuesday.

Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart will undergo surgery on his knee and sit out the rest of the regular season, though head coach John Harbaugh didn’t rule out the possibility Dart would return if the Giants were to make the playoffs.

During the two months of taking over as the closer, Kodai Senga proved to the Mets that he can pitch out of the bullpen, something that was completely foreign to him until this year.
The right-hander had some bumps along the way, of course, but for the most part Senga was a reliable arm as a reliever and went 8-for-9 on save opportunities, including shutting the door on Tuesday night in New York’s 6-3 win over the Texas Rangers.
However, with Devin Williams reinstated from the IL, Senga’s role on the team is now in a bit of limbo.

Carlos Alcaraz returns to a tennis court this week for the first time since the US Open, playing for Team Europe at the Laver Cup.
Alcaraz has shone at the Laver Cup in recent times, with the Spanish superstar boasting a 6-2 record from his eight matches played. He’s claimed 15 points for his side across singles and doubles, and is now looking to add to that tally at The O2 in London.

NEW YORK (AP) — Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton could return for the playoffs after a 5 1/2-month absence due to calf strains.
Stanton faced pitchers Wednesday at Double-A Somerset along with center fielder Trent Grisham, sidelined since straining his right hamstring on Sept. 4. Both ran the bases and Stanton homered while taking six or seven at-bats.
“Putting them on the outskirts of the conversation,” New York manager Aaron Boone, bothered by a cold, said in a raspy voice.
