Things were far from chilly during a recent hockey game in Minnesota where two separate engagements took place — both celebrating queer love.
The Minnesota Frost played one of their Pride Unity Games on Sunday, March 30, and the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Facing off against the Toronto Sceptres, the home team scored with a 5-2 win, breaking out of the losing streak that had plagued them for the prior three matches.
While that in and of itself would have given attendees plenty to cheer about, there were other reasons to celebrate.

Betnijah Laney-Hamilton suffered an acute meniscus surgery during the WNBA offseason, the Liberty reported Monday.
New York Liberty forward Betnijah Laney-Hamilton underwent surgery on her left knee to repair an acute meniscus injury, the time announced Monday afternoon.
The Liberty reported that Laney-Hamilton is projected to return to basketball activity in five to six months, which would mean she’s likely to miss most, if not all, of the entire WNBA season.

ATLANTA (AP) — Nell Fortner announced Monday she is retiring following 15 seasons as a college basketball head coach, including the last six at Georgia Tech.
Fortner also was the first coach and general manager for the WNBA’s Indiana Fever from 1999-2003 and coached the United States women’s national team to gold medals at the 1998 world championships and the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
Fortner won 272 games at the college level and earned coach of the year honors in three conferences.

The NFL has announced a new uniform policy for the 2025 season, and I have a feeling fans across the league are going to be happy about it. On Monday afternoon it was announced that teams are now allowed to wear their throwback and alternate uniforms up to four times this year. Previously, teams were limited to only three games with their throwbacks/alternates.

LSU Gymnastics’ Kailin Chio was named SEC Freshman of the Year. She also earned places on the 2025 All-SEC team alongside three of her teammates and the All-Freshman team.
Chio is the fourth gymnast in program history to win the award. She follows Haleigh Bryant (2021), Kiya Johnson (2020), and April Burkholder (2003). Bryant, Aleah Finnegan and Konnor McClain join Chio on the All-SEC team.
In her historic debut season, Chio competed in the all-around in every meet for the Tigers. She recorded season highs of 10 on vault, the first perfect score of the season by a freshman, 9.

Jameis Winston said on Monday that his “initial vision approaching this offseason” was to find a team that would give him “either a starting role or bridge opportunity to be the starting quarterback,” but it looks like he’s destined for other things.
The Giants signed Russell Wilson shortly after adding Winston to their roster this month and the team is heading into the rest of the offseason with Wilson as the No. 1 quarterback on the depth chart.
