Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead is one of the most successful active front office executives in the NFL.
After rocky start to his tenure, he’s navigated the Rams to six playoffs, two Super Bowls and won one. Snead has done so despite trading away countless first-round picks and losing key franchise stars along the way.
ESPN’s Mina Kimes ranked the Rams as her No. 4 front offices in the league based on the idea that Snead was able to build a winning team around veterans while simultaneously draft stars to build a youthful core for the future.
If there has been a clear theme surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles in recent years – other than their Super Bowl success – it’s the fact they continue to churn out quality people in their front office.
So much so that when the time for promotions come, organizations around the league target Philadelphia’s assistants more than others.
Former assistants to general manager Howie Roseman like Ian Cunningham, Brandon Brown, Andy Weidl, Joe Douglas, Andrew Berry, and Catherine Raiche have all found promotions around the league over the last decade.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Alexander Nikishin is making his NHL debut for the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 5 of their second-round playoff series Thursday night at the Washington Capitals.
Nikishin took the pre-warmups solo lap customary for players getting into their first game in the league, skating around helmetless before the rest of the team got onto the ice. The 23-year-old Russian defenseman did line rushes paired with veteran Shayne Gostisbehere.
Michael Jordan will be a part of NBC’s NBC coverage when the league returns to the network next season. We’re still not sure exactly what that will look like.
NBC only described Jordan’s role as a “special contributor” in its announcement, with few other details. CNBC’s Alex Sherman provided a little more clarity Thursday, reporting the initial plan is for Jordan to provide analysis in taped segments that will air during pregame and halftime shows, while leaving the door open for the role to evolve.
Though Tom Brady is rarely at the Las Vegas Raiders’ team facility, his presence looms large over the franchise. He was heavily involved in the team’s head coach and general manager searches this offseason.
He may not be involved in day-to-day operations, but he’s keeping consistent communication with head coach Pete Carroll.
“Pretty regular,” Carroll told Seattle Sports when asked about how much interaction he has with Brady. “We’re phone buddies.
We live in the golden age of moronic protesters sticking their phones in celebrity’s faces and shouting their nonsense at them in hopes of getting a response, and comedy legend Jerry Seinfeld has demonstrated how you handle these drooling idiots.
