MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Byron Buxton and Trevor Larnach homered help the Minnesota Twins beat the last-place Chicago White Sox 6-3 on Wednesday night.
Larnach hit a solo shot in the sixth, his second blast in two games, to make it 4-3. Buxton hit a two-run homer an inning later as Minnesota won its second straight in the series.
Chicago scored all three of its runs in the fifth, one on a wild pitch and another on an error by second baseman Luke Keaschall. Minnesota tied it in the bottom of the inning on Brooks Lee’s sharp single that drove in Ty France.

The Professional Women’s Hockey League is expanding.

The league announced on Wednesday that Vancouver was selected as its first expansion city. It will be the PWHL’s seventh team, and third in Canada.

“This is a historic day for our league, our fans, our athletes, and our sport,” PWHL executive vice president of business operations Amy Scheer said in a statement released by the league. “Vancouver is a vibrant city with a deep love for the game — as we saw firsthand during the PWHL Takeover Tour earlier this season.

BOSTON — Jayson Tatum (wrist) will miss the first playoff game of his career on Wednesday night when the Celtics take on the Magic in Game 2 of their first round series. The All-Star forward was originally listed as doubtful by the team on the injury report Tuesday but was downgraded an hour before tip.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Veteran forward Evander Kane is making his season debut for the Edmonton Oilers in Game 2 of their first-round Stanley Cup playoff series with the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday night.
Defenseman John Klingberg also returned from a lengthy injury absence as the Oilers attempted to even the series.
Kane is a 15-year NHL veteran who hasn’t played for the Oilers since Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final last June. He had surgery last September to repair a sports hernia, and he underwent knee surgery in January.
