LOS ANGELES (AP) — Shohei Ohtani’s “Dad Strength” is finally beginning to kick in as the Los Angeles Dodgers’ slugger hit his first home run since the birth of his daughter to jump-start a 15-2 victory over the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.

WATERTOWN — Halfway through their first seasons in the South Dakota High School Baseball Association since the late 2010s, the Watertown Arrows Post 17 and Aberdeen Smittys’ teams are in a similar spot.
Watertown is now 5-5 and Aberdeen 5-6 after the two northeastern South Dakota squads battled to a split Tuesday night at Watertown Stadium.
Post 17 won the opener 3-0 and Aberdeen rallied to win the second game 9-8.
“I think tonight was really a tale of two games for us,” Watertown coach Ryan Neale said.

WORCESTER — Anyone who has seen Marcelo Mayer play for the WooSox recently wouldn’t be surprised by the announcement on Monday that he was named the International League Player of the Week for the week of April 21-27.

“I think he was the obvious choice,” WooSox manager Chad Tracy said of his “run-producing machine”, Mayer, who batted .460 with three home runs, 12 RBI, nine hits and amassed a 1.530 OPS last week, racking up 21 bases over six games. Mayer leads minor league baseball with 34 RBIs.

For Mayer, there’s not a lot to say about the honor.

TORONTO — Red Sox righty Lucas Giolito will be activated from the IL to start Wednesday against the Blue Jays despite posting a 5.19 ERA in five rehab games.

1)Jarren Duran belted his sixth career leadoff home run and his first of this season to put Boston ahead 1-0 immediately. Duran’s average has increased 32 points from .241 to .273 the past three games.

2) For the second time on this road trip, the Red Sox did something that they hadn’t done in 16 years. Boston belted five homers in the first three innings of a game for the first time since Sept. 8, 2009.

The Arizona Cardinals traded Isaiah Simmons to the New York Giants before the 2023 season after he had played three seasons in the NFL after they made him the No. 8 overall pick in 2020.
He has a new time.
After two seasons with the Giants, Simmons signed a one-year deal to join the Green Bay Packers.
Simmons has not been the star he wanted to be. Playing for a bad Giants team, in 2024, he played in a career-low 181 defensive snaps. He played in all 17 games last season for Simons, logging 21 total tackles, two pass breakups and an interception.
We will see how the Packers view him.
