Second baseman Luis Arráez attempted to lay down a bunt against the Houston Astros on Sunday Night Baseball, but his attempt became problematic quickly.

The bunt wasn’t the problem, it was actually perfect for a sacrifice play. The problem was that when second baseman Maurico Dubón went to cover first base, his momentum carried him into Arráez’s path as he ran through the base.

San Diego Padres designated hitter Luis Arráez was carted off the field and taken to a local hospital on Sunday night after a scary collision at first base during their matchup with the Houston Astros.
Arráez ran directly into Astros second baseman Mauricio Dubón while trying to make it to first after a sacrifice bunt. Arráez and Dubón collided hard and both immediately crumpled to the ground.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — A matchup between Justin Verlander and Mike Trout may not resonate the way it used to, but when Verlander struck out Trout with a fastball at 97.4 mph in the sixth inning, it was easy to appreciate that flash of greatness by the 42-year-old right-hander.
In fact, this entire start showed Verlander still has a bit left in the tank.
Verlander allowed a run and two hits in six innings Sunday. He was in line for his first victory with the San Francisco Giants until the Los Angeles Angels scored four runs in the ninth to steal a 5-4 win.
