Rory McIlroy captured his second title at The Players with a playoff win on Monday.
It may have taken three extra holes on Monday morning, but Rory McIlroy is officially The Players Champion after defeating J.J. Spaun.
The victory in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, marks McIlroy’s second of the season, as he also won at Pebble Beach. It is not hyperbolic to say that he is having the best season of any golfer in the world at the moment, even if Phil Mickelson disagrees.
This win at TPC Sawgrass also marks McIlroy’s second victory at The Players.

Duke coach Jon Scheyer sounds incredibly optimistic that Cooper Flagg will be available early in the NCAA Tournament.
The phenom forward is the best player in college basketball, and he’s the backbone of the Blue Devils. To put it simply: Duke will go as far as Flagg can carry them.
That’s why fans held their breath and panicked when he suffered an ankle injury in the ACC Tournament. Initially, it looked really bad. He had to be carried to the locker room by two teammates.
Fortunately, disaster was avoided and it was only a sprained ankle.

Fairfield, South Florida, Montana State and Harvard are among the mid-majors you should keep an eye on in the women’s NCAA Tournament.
Upsets happen with much less frequency in the women’s NCAA Tournament than the men’s.
For example, a No. 2 seed has never beaten a No. 15 seed, and a No. 3 has never beaten a No. 14 seed.
But upsets do happen.
Just last year we saw No. 11 Middle Tennessee State defeat seventh-seeded Louisville.

This is just ridiculous.
The North Carolina Tar Heels are legendary when it comes to March Madness. The championships, the unforgettable players, the incomparable Dean Smith — all part of what makes UNC one of the best-known programs in the country. On Sunday night the Heels were being talked about for all the wrong reasons, as North Carolina might lay claim to being the worst team to ever get an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.
Prior to the ACC tournament it was a forgone conclusion that UNC wouldn’t get to go dancing in 2025.
