Finally, after four seasons in five years, Paige Bueckers leaves UConn as a national champion, and one of the greatest ever to wear a Huskies uniform.
TAMPA, Fla. — Azzi Fudd pointed toward the rim: “It’s your turn.”
Paige Bueckers glanced at the hoop, smiled, pulled her ballcap down and started climbing.
Two-time Super Bowl champion Shaq Barrett retired before 20254 training, He unretired late in the season.
He apparently doesn’t intend to retire again in 2025.
Via JoeBucsFan.com, agent Drew Rosenhaus recently made it clear that Barrett isn’t walking away.
“He’s definitely going to play this year,” Rosenhaus said.
Undrafted in 2014, Barrett spent four years with the Broncos and five with the Buccaneers. He signed with the Dolphins last year; he decided in mid-July to not play.
Barrett emerged from retirement during the season. The Dolphins eventually released him.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Geno Auriemma has accomplished more than just about anyone in college basketball.
The 71-year-old UConn coach passed former Stanford women’s basketball coach Tara VanDerveer as the winningest coach in Division 1 earlier this season. He won his 12th NCAA title on Sunday, 30 years after winning his first one.
He has done it all in his 40 years at UConn, and amid the celebration of his latest championship gave no indication that he’s slowing down just yet.
HOUSTON (AP) — Qualifier Jenson Brooksby earned his first ATP Tour title Sunday by beating Frances Tiafoe 6-4, 6-2 in the final of the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship.
Brooksby, a 24-year-old from California, saved five match points during the tournament, including one in his semifinal victory over top-seeded Tommy Paul. Brooksby eliminated the three highest-seeded men in the field, including No. 2 Tiafoe and No. 3 Alejandro Tabilo.
Ranked outside the top 500 entering the event in Houston, Brooksby is expected to climb inside the top 175 in Monday’s ATP rankings.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Josef Martínez found the net in the second minute of second-half stoppage time to polish off a league-record seventh hat trick, leading the San Jose Earthquakes to a 6-1 romp over D.C. United on Sunday and moving him into the No. 6 spot on the league’s all-time goals list.
Martínez scored in the 16th minute after Cristian “Chicho” Arango scored in the 8th to give the Earthquakes (3-3-1) a 2-0 lead. Martínez made it 4-1 in the 81st minute. He capped the scoring after substitute Amahl Pellegrino found the net in the 90th.
