PHOENIX (AP) — Phoenix Suns All-Star Kevin Durant will not play the final two games of the season because of a sprained ankle.
Durant missed his sixth straight game against San Antonio on Friday night and coach Mike Budenholzer said he’s not expected to play Sunday at Sacramento.
Durant was injured on March 30 against Houston when he stepped on the foot of the Rockets’ Jabari Smith Jr. in the third quarter. The 11-time All-NBA forward couldn’t put weight on his left leg after the injury and hasn’t played since.
Durant is sixth in the NBA scoring at 26.
With the Magic already locked into the No. 7 spot in the East and set to host an NBA play-in tournament game at Kia Center on Tuesday, there wasn’t much to play for Friday night against the Pacers.
That didn’t matter for Orlando‘s reserves who got to start and play significant minutes on the road.
The Magic had no problem scoring from all over the court, capturing a 129-115 victory behind a combined 63 points from Anthony Black (21), Jett Howard (17) and two-way guard Trevelin Queen (25).
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Trae Young hit six 3-pointers and had 36 points and 11 assists, Caris LeVert added 31 points and the Atlanta Hawks beat the Philadelphia 76ers 124-110 on Friday night, securing an Eastern Conference play-in spot.
Georges Niang scored 16 points and Mouhamed Gueye added 10 points and a career-high 18 rebounds for the Hawks. Dyson Daniels had 10 rebounds to go with eight points, eight assists, three steals and two blocks. The 6-foot-7 forward has 229 steals this season, the most since Gary Payton (231) in 1995-96.
