The man from Ole Miss is starting anew.
Former Carolina Panthers quarterback and former Rebel Matt Corral joined the New England Patriots, the team announced on Thursday.
The Patriots drew some questions around their final 53-man roster set this week.
Leaving starter Mac Jones without a backup, New England brought back Western Kentucky University legend Bailey Zappe and added Matt Corral off waivers to bolster their depth.

College football fans were eagerly awaiting Thursday’s season-opening clash between Florida and No. 14 Utah, which aired on ESPN. When it came time for kickoff, however, those watching on Spectrum were met with nothing but a black screen.
After a while, a message appeared on screens from the cable service provider, indicating that Disney had removed its programming from Spectrum amid ongoing negotiations over carriage fees the cable company pays to Disney.
When Florida defensive end Princely Umanmielen arrived at Utah’s Rice-Eccles Stadium ahead of Thursday night’s game, he posted a picture of the stadium to his Instagram story.
But, Umanmielen trolled the stadium in his caption, calling it a “lil ah stadium.” He was poking fun at the smallness of the stadium in comparison to other stadiums the Gators play in.
Shortly after posting the image, Umanmielen deleted the post. However, people screenshot the picture and made sure to use it to troll him after the game started.

The Los Angeles Angels gave up on the 2023 season recently, putting several important players on waivers.

Lucas Giolito, Hunter Renfroe, Randal Grichuk, Matt Moore and Reynaldo Lopez among others were made available to any team in the league for no return whatsoever.
For teams chasing playoff spots, it would make sense to add someone of, say, Giolito’s caliber to a rotation. Despite struggling with the Angels, Giolito has a history of solidly above average performance.
FOX analyst Mark Schlereth discussed the Cowboys’ decision to trade for former 49ers first-round pick Trey Lance during a recent episode of his podcast, and the 57-year-old didn’t hold back when ripping into the organization.
Schlereth addressed Jones’ decision to bring Lance to Dallas without informing either head coach Mike McCarthy or starting quarterback Dak Prescott of what he was scheming, something that didn’t sit well with the NFL analyst.
“I’m not in an NFL locker room, I’m not spending every day with these teammates,” Kelly Stafford said.
“We had a unique opportunity to acquire three players to hopefully impact us moving forward,” Guardians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti told the media on Thursday.
Credit where due: The baseball world has spent the last six months trying to find appropriate vocabulary to describe the disaster of the AL Central. Yet Antonetti still managed to do some real trailblazing with his language here. “A unique opportunity”! It certainly is.
We’re one week away from NFL football and some fantasy football leagues are still drafting.
Scheming for a fantasy draft has grown increasingly difficult as running backs — once the MVPs of fantasy football — decline in value, ceding the crown to wideouts as top fantasy producers.
Approaching a strategy in fantasy should come with the courage to draft high for a player you’re convinced is great.
After all, fantasy research often means squat in the heat of a live draft.

The three-time NBA champion will join a Sacramento team that is coming off its first playoff bid since the 2005–06 season. Dallas waived McGee just two days ago.

As one of the NBA’s top rising stars, Anthony Edwards has continued to reach new heights this summer, with the Timberwolves guard’s dominant play leading Team USA at the FIBA World Cup. And, with Edwards’ platform set to grow in the coming years, ex-teammate Patrick Beverley believes his days in Minnesota may be numbered.
Appearing on a recent episode of Gil’s Arena, Beverley, who played with Edwards in the 2021–22 season, offered his latest hot take after the conversation turned to Edwards.
