No. 1 pick Victor Wembanyama made his NBA debut on Friday night in Las Vegas Summer League against the Hornets, and delivered an up-and-down performance in his first game with the Spurs.
Wembanyama was solid defensively, blocking five shots, and was active on the glass with his eight rebounds. However, the Spurs star went just 2-for-13 from the floor with nine points, and had three turnovers to go along with his three assists.

San Antonio selected Wembanyama with the top pick in last month’s draft, and on Friday night, the 7’3″ France native made his NBA debut in the Las Vegas Summer League against the Hornets.
There were plenty of good moments, and plenty of not-so-good moments for Wembanyama in his debut in front of nearly 18,000 fans at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of UNLV.
To start with the good, Wembanyama was largely very solid defensively.
Victor Wembanyama scored just 9 points against the Hornets and found himself on the wrong end of a poster, but he did add 8 rebounds and 5 blocks.
Scoot Henderson and Amen Thompson, the Nos. 3 and 4 picks in this year’s draft, both left Friday night’s summer league game between the Blazers and Rockets with injuries, marring what had been impressive debuts for both.

Henderson looked every bit the part of an All-Star-caliber combo guard, scoring 15 points on 5-of-13 shooting from the floor with six assists and five rebounds in 21 minutes of action.
However, Henderson’s summer league debut concluded early after he left the game in the third quarter with a right shoulder injury, per Trail Blazers PR.
