1. Pro Football Talk ran a piece Wednesday about the declining ratings for ESPN2’s ManningCast:
For the most recent three ManningCasts, the total audience has been flirting with the possibility of dipping below one million. On Monday night, 1.028 million chose the alternate telecast (featuring a visit from Arnold Schwarzenegger and his donkey). The Week 7 game (49ers-Vikings) had 1.068 million. For Week 5 (Packers-Raiders), the ManningCast attracted 1.036 million.
Now in its third year, the ratings for the ManningCast have steadily gone down since its debut in 2021, when it averaged 1.

If you couldn’t stay up late Wednesday night, you unfortunately missed a fascinating battle between the NBA’s last two Finals MVPs.
The Nuggets bested the Warriors 108–105 in a hotly contested matchup I can only hope is a potential playoff preview. And the game within the game, specifically how each team tried to slow down the other’s offensive titan, was ultimately won by Denver.
Stephen Curry and Nikola Jokić—who already have four regular-season MVPs between them—entered Wednesday’s showdown playing at or above the level that has won them the award before.
Week 10 of the NFL schedule isn’t as loaded as last week’s slate, but there are a few intriguing interconference matchups.
Good luck trying to pick a winner for 49ers at Jaguars. Both Super Bowl contenders are coming off bye weeks, but the 49ers had more corrections to make because of their surprising three-game losing streak. One major correction was adding edge rusher Chase Young ahead of last week’s NFL trade deadline.
As for the Jaguars, they surged into their bye week with five consecutive wins.

Player didn’t hold back his feelings on women playing at Augusta National despite congratulating Sorenstam for becoming a member.
This week, the DP World Tour is at Gary Player Country Club for the Nedbank Golf Challenge in Sun City, South Africa.
One of the greatest PGA Tour golfers of all time and South African staple, Gary Player, was there for the first round and joined the television broadcast for a while.
He loved that Augusta National finally extended membership to one of the greatest LPGA players ever.
The NCAA conducted a review of the officiating that took place during the 2023 Women’s National Championship game between Iowa and LSU and found that it did not meet the normal standard. Those to blame for the poor officiating are the referees themselves, of course, but South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley believes they should be given a pass because the officiating crew was made up of black and brown women.
Staley shared her thoughts on X, formerly Twitter, stating that we shouldn’t “run them over” for no other reason than the color of their skin.
Will Ohtani return to the Angels? Will he choose another team? Here’s the latest on a once-in-a-generation talent.
Did you know they used to play football? I swear! They were rivals and everything. What a world.
By college football standards, the rivalry between the University of Texas and Texas A&M is exactly what you’d expect. First played in 1894 and scheduled annually starting in 1915, the Longhorns and Aggies feature all the standard tropes: UT is the liberal arts university in the urban state capital – the snobs – and A&M is the agricultural, military and engineering school – the country folk, let’s say.

A pair of Ryder Cup stars and two other DP World Tour players are tied atop the leaderboard at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa.
A pair of Ryder Cup stars sit atop the leaderboard in Sun City, South Africa, the home of the DP World Tour’s Nedbank Golf Challenge, after round one.
American Max Homa and young Nicolai Højgaard of Denmark each carded 6-under 66s on Thursday.
Knicks big man Mitchell Robinson can be added to the long list of players already impressed with Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama through the start of his NBA career. But the praise Robinson sang about Wembanyama after the two met on Wednesday certainly ranks among the most noteworthy.
“He is a great player. He is one of the best in the league right now especially with his height. He can put it on the floor, shoot it, it was going to be a challenge, but we had to do what we had to do,” Robinson said after Wednesday’s matchup, a 126–105 New York win, per Spurs writer Paul Garcia.
