The Colorado football community honored Deion Sanders on Wednesday night after the influential first-year coach was named Sports Illustrated’s 2023 Sportsperson of the Year last week.
Around 4,500 Colorado fans, students and various other members of the community gathered at the CU Events Center to celebrate Sanders’s award and his inaugural season with the Buffaloes. His three sons, Colorado quarterback Shedeur, safety Shilo and Deion Jr. all attended the event, too. Former Buffaloes quarterback and NFL star Kordell Stewart was present as well.

Stephen Curry apparently can’t miss opportunities to mess with his former and current teammates whenever those situations present themselves.
Former Warriors player, and ex-teammate of Curry, Festus Ezeli now works as a sideline reporter for the team. While he was giving a report on Andrew Wiggins returning to the lineup on Wednesday night, Curry spotted him on the court.
Curry walked back and forth behind Ezeli while making a wide-eyed face with his mouth open.

While it is no the highly-anticipated announcement regarding where Shohei Ohtani will be playing baseball next year, it is still a dramatic move. The San Diego Padres have traded slugger Juan Soto to the New York Yankees.
Throughout the day Wednesday, reporting from the MLB Winter Meetings indicated that the deal was nearing completion.

The Yankees are expected to acquire star outfielder Juan Soto, along with outfielder Trent Grisham, from the Padres in exchange for five players, per multiple reports. San Diego will get pitchers Michael King, Drew Thorpe, Johny Brito, Randy Vásquez and catcher Kyle Higashioka back in the deal.
The New York Post’s Joel Sherman reported that the deal is now complete, while Sherman and Yes Network’s Jack Curry reported the full, seven-player package.

Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James has already spewed an anti-gun rant in the wake of a shooting at UNLV’s campus.
On Wednesday morning, a suspect started firing shots and killed three people. Additionally, one other victim remains in critical condition. Because of this heartbreaking development, the Rebels and Dayton Flyers canceled their men’s basketball game scheduled for Wednesday evening. 
However, James did not cancel his obligation to the media to complain about why guns are the problem and must be taken away.
