Verstappen was fastest on Friday, but it will be Leclerc in P1 when the lights go out Sunday
When he needed it most, Max Verstappen came through yet again. After barely advancing to Q3 in Friday’s qualifying ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix, placing tenth in Q2, Verstappen came through with his best lap of the afternoon at Spa at the very end of Q3, grabbing pole position away from Charles Leclerc.
But it will be Leclerc who starts the Grand Prix in P1 anyway.

Steelers running back Najee Harris is one of several running backs seeking contract extensions with their respective franchises, but the money doesn’t sound like it’s coming anytime soon.
So what’s to blame for the lack of interest for NFL teams in paying running backs?
For Pittsburgh general manager Omar Khan, the answer is quite simple.
“You don’t have to be a mathematician to figure it out,” Khan told TribLive.com.

The LPGA is in France at the Amundi Evian Championship. Jessica Korda and others are frustrated with how difficult it is to watch.
Tuning into an LPGA major championship should not be hard, yet watching this week’s Amundi Evian Championship is nearly impossible.
LPGA player Jessica Korda, golf media legend Lisa Cornwell, and many others have expressed frustration over the lack of coverage.
Sure, the event is in France, six hours ahead of the American east coast, but still.
Last week for The Open Championship, coverage began at 2 a.m.
These new Rams shirts are hilariously bad.
The Rams are in kind of a tough spot this year. They’re now on the receiving end of the “F them picks” mentality that GM Les Snead and Sean McVay employed to get them a Super Bowl in 2021, and it looks ROUGH. The defense is starting multiple rookies, very few of them actually drafted on the first two days of the NFL Draft.
With the general vibe around the team being at its’ lowest point in possibly five years, the Rams had to do something to boost the morale of the team and fans that showed up to training camp.
The NASCAR Cup Series returns to Richmond this weekend as the race for the playoffs heats up.
49ers tight end George Kittle acknowledged that San Francisco’s Super Bowl window “could be closing,” leading to a strong sense of urgency for the club to win now.
After making consecutive NFC championship appearances, the pass-catching talent believes the 49ers have a roster capable of winning the franchise’s first Super Bowl since 1994. However, Kittle understands the NFL’s salary cap will inevitably lead to changes in the near future.
Witherspoon is the last first-rounder to agree to a deal.
Life in the NFL is cruel.
Jonathan Garvin woke up to the birthday wish from the Green Bay Packers on Friday. The linebacker was drafted by Green Bay in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Miami, and had played 38 games for the team over the last three years, including one start.
Getting a birthday wish from the official team account must have been a really nice feeling for Garvin. Unfortunately, what came next wasn’t.
Here’s the shot.

A birthday may be a special celebration, but it doesn’t stop from business being conducted. Just ask linebacker Jonathan Garvin about that.
Friday marked Garvin’s 24th birthday, and the Packers wished their linebacker a Happy Birthday with a tweet in the morning to mark the occasion. However, the show still goes on, as coach Matt LaFleur told reporters at his press conference that Green Bay released Garvin from the team just three hours after the social media account sent the birthday tweet.

Once labeled as the ‘Conference of Champions’, the Pac-12 is now treading in the water right after Colorado’s move to the Big 12.
Just a year after UCLA and USC announced they were leaving for the Big 10, the once prominent conference on the West Coast finds itself wondering what to do next. A year of commissioner George Kilavkoff assuring members that they would be ok when it comes to a television contract has turned into a running joke.
Hiding behind statements to buy enough time to negotiate a media rights deal that would benefit its remaining members now looks like fools gold.
