On a day full of dread around the world over wartime acts by Hamas, Outsports — a radically LGBT “sports” site — published a piece excoriating the NHL for its own “Don’t Say Gay” laws.
In their words, the “most egregious” part of these “radically right” policies was the banning of rainbow tape for in-game use.
The piece was titled, “The NHL has banned Pride Tape, creating its own ‘Don’t Say Gay’ policy.

A family will be divided in Monday Night Football as the Carlson brothers prepare to kick their respective teams to victory.
Green Bay Packers kicker Anders Carlson and Las Vegas Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson will play each other for the first time in their professional careers at Allegiant Stadium. It will be the first time in 36 years that brothers will kick for opposing teams, when Chris Bahr (also on the Raiders) and Matt Bahr (Browns) faced off in 1987.
Colorado star Travis Hunter returned to the practice for the first time since suffering a gruesome injury in the Buffaloes’ game against Colorado State on Sept. 16, according to a video clip posted on social media.
Darius Sanders of The People Media tweeted a video on Monday of Hunter doing one-on-one drills with wide receiver Omarion Miller, who registered a breakout performance in Colorado’s 48–41 loss to USC on Sept. 30.
Early in the 2023 NFL season, Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel has shown that numbers and records mean little to him or his team. In Week 3’s 70–20 demolition of the Broncos, Miami chose not to tie or break the league’s single-game scoring record of 73 points.
Yet the Dolphins’ offense continues to compile yards at an impressive rate amid a 4–1 start. In the process, Miami has accumulated the most yards from scrimmage in a team’s first five games in league history. With 2,568 yards, the Dolphins have surpassed the previous record of 2,527 set by the St.
Vikings star receiver Justin Jefferson suffered a strained right hamstring during his team’s 27–20 home loss to the Chiefs on Sunday.
The injury caused Jefferson to miss the final 21 snaps of the game, which was a rare absence for the wideout. He hasn’t missed a game since he was drafted in 2020, and now that streak appears to be in jeopardy for Sunday’s game against the Bears.
Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell told reporters Monday that the team wants him to be “100%” before returning to the field in order to avoid a more serious injury.

The Jets received bad news on the injury front Monday afternoon.
An update on the status of offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker was revealed by coach Robert Saleh, who told reporters that an MRI showed a torn Achilles tendon for Vera-Tucker. The injury occurred in the Jets’ 31-21 win over the Broncos in Denver on Sunday.
Saleh said the Jets were surprised by the news and expressed there was optimism surrounding Vera-Tucker’s status after he remained in the game for a play following the injury, walked off the field and went to the locker room under his own power.
Welcome to Week 5 of the 2023 NFL season here at The MMQB. Below are links to everything Albert Breer wrote over the weekend, plus more from our staff.
Ten Takeaways: Rival Executives Say Patriots ‘Quite Simply Have No Talent’

Albert Breer talks to rival executives about why the Patriots have fallen so far, plus Saints nickelback Demario Davis, Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder and Jaguars OC Press Taylor.
Over the first four weeks of the NFL season, I’ve produced a column about not overreacting to limited information. Now that each team has played at least four games — and the majority have played five — we can start to form educated opinions about what we’re seeing.
For me, this represents a good time to look back at my own bold predictions prior to the NFL season and see where I went right and where I went wrong. When you predict the outcome of all 32 NFL teams, there are bound to be some hits and misses. The goal is to have more of the former and fewer of the latter.
Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo faced criticism on social media following his team’s 27–24 loss to Colorado on Saturday for appearing to take a cheap shot at a Buffaloes defender after the game was over.
However, Skattebo later explained that there’s more than meets the eye in regard to the incident.
On the final play of the game, Sun Devils wide receiver Elijhah Badger was pushed out of bounds and appeared to flick the ball back onto the field behind him as other Arizona State players started to walk onto the field for postgame pleasantries.
