Gregg Popovich appears invigorated to continue his Hall of Fame coaching career with the Spurs. Following the team’s announcement that Popovich had agreed to a five-year contract extension with the team, praise from fans and players came from many directions, including Lakers star LeBron James.
James, who has spent time with Popovich with USA Basketball, has offered plenty of praise for the longtime San Antonio coach, and he took to Twitter to show some love—and to let Pop know that dinner is on him.

Amid detailed information regarding disturbing hazing allegations within the Northwestern football program, university president Michael Schill sent a letter to the school community regarding his decision to suspend head coach Pat Fitzgerald for two weeks without pay.
In the letter, Schill said the initial investigation concluded that there was “no direct evidence” that Fitzgerald knew about the hazing incidents.

Bob Huggins’ time at West Virginia may not be over just yet. Probably, but maybe not.
The 69-year-old college basketball coach claims that he did not resign from the university in wake of an arrest for drunk driving. He wants to return to his role with the Mountaineers, immediately.
His attorney, David A. Campbell, sent a letter to school president E. Gordon Gee on Friday that demands his client be reinstated. Huggins threatened to sue. West Virginia has since replied, confused.
Huggins’ resignation was announced on June 17, after he took over the program in 2007.

The future of Grant Williams was very much up in the air as the NBA offseason began, but as free agency wore on, it appeared the veteran forward, who was a restricted free agent, could have a chance to return to the Celtics after the early signings and trades.
That was not the case when all was said and done, as Williams became part of a sign-and-trade deal that sent him to the Mavericks.
The deal involving Williams was a three-team swap involving the Celtics, Mavericks and Spurs.

Paul Finebaum thinks Ryan Day’s job could be in trouble if Ohio State loses to Michigan.
Day is 45-6 with the Buckeyes, and is widely-viewed as one of the best coaches in America. The Buckeyes have made the CFP three times under his leadership, and lost the national title game a few years ago against Alabama.
The Buckeyes also narrowly missed playing for a national title game this past season, and likely would have been if not for a missed pass interference call against Georgia. Yet, back-to-back losses to Michigan has plenty of OSU fans upset.
