After months of trade rumors, the Blazers finally traded away Damian Lillard as the Bucks stepped on in a three-team deal to land the seven-time All Star point guard. That is despite the Heat being Lillard’s preferred destination since he requested a trade in the early offseason.
While Lillard didn’t end up going to his top choice, he doesn’t appear to be blaming Miami for that. In fact, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports Lillard’s camp thinks the Blazers wanted to trade him to any team other than the Heat.

Flames assistant general manager Chris Snow suffered a catastrophic brain injury and is not expected to live, his wife Kelsie announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Chris Snow, 42, “became unresponsive and went into cardiac arrest” on Tuesday, per Kelsie Snow’s post on X, formerly known as Twitter. The Calgary executive has been battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) since 2019; his wife wrote an essay about his life with ALS for SI in February 2020.
Thursday morning, Kelsie Snow issued an update.
“Tests yesterday confirmed that Chris will not wake up,” she wrote on X.
Alabama football coach Nick Saban will be 72 on Halloween, and many are doing the math.
Surely, he cannot coach much longer, right?
Even Alabama fans have been concerned that he might be losing it, particularly after the loss to Texas this season and an unimpressive win over South Florida.

But don’t say that around Alabama sophomore cornerback Terrion Arnold.
Cubs broadcasters Jon “Boog” Sciambi and Jim Deshaies received some heat Wednesday night after they had a controversial reaction to the Braves’ decision to stop their game when Ronald Acuña Jr. made history by stealing his 70th base of the season.
Acuña took the base out of the ground in the 10th inning after becoming the first major leaguer to tally at least 40 home runs and 70 stolen bases in a single season, meaning the grounds crew had to come out and replace the base. Then, the Braves began showing a highlight reel of Acuña’s stolen bases this season.
The worst-kept secret in the NFL is that the New York Jets desperately need a new quarterback. Zach Wilson is playing like … well, like Zach Wilson. Many people think the team should pursue Kirk Cousins. But, there’s another veteran who makes sense: Tennessee Titans starter Ryan Tannehill.
Let me be clear: if the Jets can swing a Kirk Cousins trade with the Minnesota Vikings, they should prioritize that move. Cousins is a better quarterback than Tannehill right now. Plus, his experience with Justin Jefferson would help the team unlock budding superstar Garrett Wilson.
The Seattle Mariners, led by superstar Julio Rodriguez, are fighting for their playoff lives in the last week of the season.
While the American League West now seems unlikely, they’re still just 1.5 games out of the third Wild Card spot. Importantly, they also sit just one game back in the loss column. But even more importantly for their playoff hopes, they entered Wednesday night wrapping up a series against the team they’re chasing: the defending World Series champion Houston Astros.
BOULDER, Colo — Onlookers are staring out onto the Colorado practice field as Deion Sanders barks out orders to his offensive group, mesmerized by the moment. The campus bookstore has a line of 20 people waiting outside, 30 minutes before the store opens.
On this Thursday in Boulder, on the campus of Colorado, there’s a feeling of hope, which hasn’t been felt around these parts in a while.
Players, with smoothies in hand, make their way out of practice and start their trek back to the athletic facility, by way of a long bridge that connects the two.
Even in their wildest and weirdest dreams, nobody saw a feud between Ohio State head coach Ryan Day and 86-year-old Lou Holtz ever being a thing, let alone in the year 2023, but here we are. To make things even weirder, fellow former coach and 78-year-old man Steve Spurrier has thrown his hat in the ring.
For anyone who may have missed it, in the lead-up to Ohio State’s game at Notre Dame this past Saturday, Lou Holtz joined ‘The Pat McAfee Show‘ and questioned the Buckeyes’ toughness.
Kate Madziuk delivers her picks for players she feels will disappoint in Week 4.
Boxing fans anticipating the clash between a pair of undisputed champions in Canelo Álvarez and Jermell Charlo should know that a familiar and distinct voice will be returning. Big fight. Las Vegas. Jim Lampley. It’s almost like he never left.
But Lampley, the longtime HBO announcer and International Boxing Hall of Famer, has not called a fight since the network got out of the boxing business five years ago. Until this week, at least, when Lampley took that voice and his depth of knowledge into his new gig at PPV.com.
