The Reds’ infield combined for one of the strangest putouts of the season on Monday, with a bullet of a throw from shortstop Elly De La Cruz capping off what was a wild play for the defense.
Mariners’ Ty France hit a ground ball back towards the pitchers mound, which deflected off pitcher Michael Mariot resulting in a difficult play for second baseman Spencer Steer.
After the ball ate up Steer in front of second base, De La Cruz was in perfect position as a backup, and was successfully able to make the play and rifle the ball to first base to beat France by a step.

Expectations for the New York Jets are already out-of-control. After adding Aaron Rodgers, most people believe this is a “Super Bowl or bust” squad. A lot of the hype is surrounding the offense. But the team boasts a great defense, as well. So good, in fact, that cornerback DJ Reed invoked the 1985 Chicago Bears as a potential comparison — from the standpoint of historical greatness.
Talk about lofty expectations.
“I think we have the potential to be the best defense in the NFL,” Reed said, according to the New York Post.

The 2022 Big Ten Coach of the Year has apparently opted to no longer use the football terms offenses and defenses. The Wolverines “Guardian of Victory” now bundling the normally opposite sides of the game under one uniformed moniker.

Paolo Banchero and Team USA are slated for a crucial matchup against Italy on Tuesday morning in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. 
Following the United States’s loss against Lithuania, failure to secure a win against Italy would see Team USA eliminated from the tournament.
In addition to the potential elimination, there’s a little extra on the line for Banchero, who, prior to the World Cup, had walked back his commitment to play for Team Italy, opting instead to play for Team USA.

Alabama was agitated last season when Texas officials put the visiting Tide’ fans in the upper deck, so they’re returning the favor this weekend.
For last year’s game in Austin, the Alabama Million Dollar Band did not make the trip to Texas due to them being put in the upper-deck. The visiting team allotment was agreed upon in the initial contract between the two, but it did not specify fan seating.
So, Texas stuck them in the nose-bleed seats, keeping them away from the lower-bowl.
Turns out, Alabama keeps receipts.
